The only thing I can see there is a large plant that can take fairly low light. You can't hide the fact that it had a stove there.

can you make a little bar area? a little cart, etc or shelves that go up the wall with a plant at the bottom.

or what about an electric fireplace???

A large sculpture, or smaller one on a pedestal. Or a corner cabinet.

If you can't use the pellet stove, maybe those tall lighted lighted marquee letters or some other large battery-operated decor.

Anything can be done so removal is possible and likely less costly than decorating around something you do not like. If the floor can not be matched what about a nice built in closet or bar corner?

I like the idea of having a built in, maybe area for tv?

What style of furnishings do you have/prefer? Knowing that would help with suggestions.

I am not in a position to make any structural changes, and not trying to hide the brick or the fact that there was once a stove there, just hoping to utilize the corner in an attractive way. My decor is eclectic and since there is no electrical outlet on that wall, I am limited. I am a plant person, so an arrangement of plants was my own first thought. I also like the idea of a freestanding corner bookshelf, as I have lots of books too. I am now thinking a combination of plants and bookshelf would look really nice. The door into the house faces this corner so it's the first thing you see, so I want it to be welcoming and attractive.

People do the strangest things. The right side of the wall is bricked to the door trim, the left side is not. I would do a built in bookcase/ wall unit, but have it go from door trim to door trim to eliminate the offset brick.

what about building up the edge and making the whole thing into an indoor planter

Find a good cabinet maker to cover the brick with wood and install glass shelves. Make sure to cover the brick at the bottom. You can add lighting at the top running electricity through the ceiling. You don't have to run shelves to the top. You can just run the shelves up halfway and hang pictures on the back.
