Tub Resurface Dilema Case of the peeling tub!

We had the cast iron tub in our princess suite resurfaced/renewed 3 years ago along with a full blown town home remodel. Our tenants moved back in...We just recently did a "walk through" with them last month, of which just informed us, (after 3 years) that the tub had began peeling soon after the remodel!

It would have been essential, timely good business sense had our otherwise perfect tenants let us know right away when it began peeling so we could go back to our contractor then and there. As it turns out this was happening to most of the other tubs our contractor's clients were also experiencing.

Our contractor is returning to redo the tub with another product my sister (co-owner with me) found after researching...or should we remove the tub, risk the possibility of damage to the rest of the bathroom, like beautiful flooring, new countertop, cabinets and newly resurfaced painted walls!?!

Thankful for Feedback
