Depending on where you live, Meyers may be grafted or they may be started from cuttings. If you are not in the citrus belt where the rootstock is important for growing in the ground, chances are high you have a rooted cutting. Yours looks like that. Where do you live and where did you obtain your plant?

Ok sweet! So there's no graft line for me to worry about. Thanks for the information. Since I have you here, one more question about this tree. I have many house plants, but this is my first tree. Im curious on how to get this to produce more branches, as it only has one right now and it growing strait up. I have seen that I can cut the top and it will produce more branches. Is this correct? How would you get this tree to branch out more?

==>> with trees we talk in tree time .. which is counted in decades ... how about you relax.. and see if you can grow it indoors for a year or two... before you worry about more branches ... get the roots established.. learn how to water a tree properly .. indoors.. and give it a year or two to start branching .... trees are pretty good about taking care of themselves.. if we dont love them too much.. or kill them with too much love ....

why are you interested in the graft??? ...

im also wondering about that 45 degree bend.. and the wound or bud just below such in the last pic ... that is where the graft would be.. if it isnt rooted ... but if it was rooted.. why the bend???

btw: did you repot it.. what did you use for media... did you adjust it to tree needs.. or do you have a heavy water perennial/houseplant mix???

I would bet that where that bend is at the bottom is the graft line.

Hi Ken. Thanks for the advice! I will be patient and give it some time. Not sure about the 45 degree bend. I purchased this at a plant nursery about two weeks ago and this is how it came. I hope I didn't get a bad baby lemon tree :(

I think if you can give it really good light -- like keeping it outside for the summer -- that will be the best way to encourage side branching.

I also think Kate is correct. The line that can be seen at the bend in the trunk (a couple inches above the soil) is indeed a graft line.
