Depends on what you want, but there is nothing wrong with the basic seeds from Burpee and Ferry-Morse. Maybe a rather bland choice, but depends on what you want. Burpee's sometimes makes up their own names, which is the only thing to watch

At real nurseries, they may sell seeds packets for Botantical Interests https://www.botanicalinterests.com/ and Renee's seeds https://www.reneesgarden.com/ which offer some interesting stuff.

Your local HD has a much wider selection than mine, if lucky I see 2 brands here, usually just Burpee and Ferry-Morse.

I'm a big no on the Burpee- too many mis-labeled or made up name packets too consistently over time for me to bother with them anymore.

I've used Ferry-Morse and Seeds of change in the past, they were pretty good and well labeled. Done the Back to the Roots mushroom kits and micro green kits, and they performed well.

I've not tried Stover or Sunset.

Where one can actually locate and purchase from a variety of seed offerings from a range of companies is typically quite regional in nature. Here, box stores, hardware stores and even grocery stores carry them but only the more commonplace brands like Ferry Morse or Burpees. Plant nurseries and garden centers here carry the widest selection - Territorial Seeds, Johnnies, Botanical Interests, Renee's Garden, etc., plus all the common ones. Sometimes they will also offer imported seeds like Chiltern or Thompson and Morgan.

As to "best" seeds, that is pretty subjective :-) I think it depends on what you want to grow!

I'm lucky to have a seed library and a seed exchange in my county. The seeds are donated and/or grown by locals, organically. We also have a Baker Creek store a few miles away. I know, I'm lucky to live in Sonoma County!

Anyway, look into seed libraries or exchanges in your community, you never know!

I like Botanical Interests the best for OTR seeds, but I have grown Burpee OTR in the past and they're fine. I do better with the OTR stuff from Burpee than through their catalog -- too many issues in the past to ever be tempted to order thru their catalog again.

I got into town today.. and popped into HD. Burpee, Back to Roots, and Ferry-morse seed. The farm store had Burpee and Livingston.
