Have you seen any white butterflies around your garden? Check the underside of the leaves for caterpillars.

If you have white cabbage butterflies, you could cover your plants with a floating row cover to prevent them from laying more eggs. That fabric is so light that plants will support it. You only have to make sure there are no gaps.

I used to have this problem regularly with my collards. Leaves became almost mesh-like, filled with small holes. It was caterpillars. They aren't obvious. Used Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) and the problem disappeared entirely. I now spray it routinely on the collards.

I read about that but can't find any near where I live.

Big box hardware stores like Home Depot and Lowes will have it. Nurseries should as well. You can get it online from them, or from many other vendors. If you're just spraying a few plants, I'd just get an 8oz size bottle, since it is concentrate, and makes a lot. Also, it expires in a couple of years.

Lot lots easier than hand-picking.

I finally found some at Tractor Supply Store. My Lowe's didn't have any but they might've been sold out.
