House water pressure reducing valve has too much fall off

Mike Garrison
last year

I currently have a Watts LF25AUB-Z3 water pressure reducing valve on the 3/4" city water supply line to my residence. The main (unregulated) side pressure is a consistent 70 PSI. I have the regulator set to 50 PSI static. When a shower is running, the regulated side drops to as low as 25 PSI while the main side stays at 70 PSI. I checked the regulator's strainer, it is clean. I suspect that I need a higher flow (or maybe just higher quality) regulator.

What would be a good option?

Thanks for any replies.
