Thank you so much Victoria!! Yes I was thinking I had too much in the room, you totally confirmed it!

I would do one large rug. I think you need more storage, and more storage that works well with kid toys. You have cube storage but no cubes! I would get some cubes that fit.

I'd also get a bookshelf with more storage, like this: https://www.wayfair.com/baby-kids/pdp/harriet-bee-lavella-kids-toy-storage-with-bookshelves-multifunctional-modern-toy-organizer-bookcases-cabinet-w004686163.html

I also bought this art table for my kiddo. It's expensive but has been totally worth it.

Thanks! Cheap from wayfair. Good thing too - it doesn't look like that any more. I hate slime.

I think fewer but larger storage options would help a lot - my bet is storage started small and then as toys got added, additional small storage pieces were added, but they don’t hold that much and feel overwhelming because there are so many around the room (that was my playroom anyway lol)

I am all for storage and teaching kids to ut stuff a way at the end of the day it is a good habit for the rest of their lives. But they need places to put the stuff that they can reach. I woukld get rid of thta mirror before one of them breaks it and cuts themselves.I like all matching storage but thsat is anal me. I aslo do not think kids need every toy they own out at the same time . We used to put Christmas toys 1/2 away and traded in June for the other 1/2 and the firs t1/2 went away. How old ar ethe kids? Where in the house is the playroom?

I feel like you need much more height (bolt to wall) and closed storage. I'd be looking to create a reading corner for the children if you can. I used to do DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) when my kids were little. I did in in the late afternoon when I was trying to put dinner together. Today, they are 34 down to 26 (four of them) and every one is a big reader. I also second what Patricia and others have said - put some of it away and make sure there is a clean up routine at the end of every day. I also remember that I would let one kid pick a song to play on my mini speaker and they would have to do all the clean up in the time it took to play the song. They all love music today, too, ha ha.

It looks like you might need some good storage and to take some of the stuff away from the walls. You can use the center space as well for play areas. Below are some kid friendly designs we did for some clients which might just help you more.

It looks like you just might need some better storage solutions and to set up some different areas to dedicate to different sorts of play. Below are just a few kids rooms and kids playrooms we did for our clients and we think you might get some ideas from these specific designs.
