1st bloom on Fortune's Double Yellow playing with Belle Portugaise

We have a massive bush of Fortune's Double Yellow growing on a support at the back of our deer fenced "new garden". It is covered right now with buds. Today I got up on a ladder to see the top of it (there is another storm coming in in 2-3 hours, and I wanted to see it before it started raining for 3 days).

When I got up there, I realized that 2-3 of the FDY blooms were opening already. I also realized that the Belle Portugaise, which was planted nearby and is ahead of the FDY in blooming, has sent long canes over to intermingle with the FDY. Right now there is not much to see, as both roses are mostly producing buds in that area. However, I have great hopes for the next few weeks!

So, here is one pic I took from up on my ladder just now - you can see one almost fully open bloom of FDY, and lots of buds of both roses planning to amaze us in the near future! Stay tuned for more pics - I told my DH to leave that ladder where it is (FDY is already using it for support - will probably eat the ladder soon if I leave it there too long).

OK - Since i posted above we have had about 6 more rainstorms, and 3-4 days of sun. Both roses are not fully out yet, but I managed (from a ladder) to take pics a couple of days ago when there had actually been sun for 3 days in a row, and they had a chance to dry out a bit. I will post the pics in 2 comments, since Houzz seems to dislike it if I post more than 3 in one. I did not plant these roses on purpose to intermingle (growth habit and colors are so different), but they did, and I am just happy that their Spring (and only) bloom is overlapping.

Thank you all - it did rain today, and it is supposed to rain tomorrow also, so I am glad the roses are not both in full bloom now - the rain would have mushed them.

Thank you rosecanadian- I love them against the sky too. I have a few warm climate once bloomers, but these two are definitely my favorites of all of them. This is the first year they have bloomed together (both times I have rooted a BP, it has taken at least 4 years before it bloomed - seems to need to grow tall first). They both bloom very early, only preceded by Safrano, which only stops blooming in my garden for about 1 month. I am delighted that their bloom overlaps - something wonderful to look forward to each Spring.
