Daily fixes are probably not going to happen. A good stone counter top fabricator or tile pro could re-hone the piece in place and have recommendations as to both prevent and care for the tops in between his now scheduled clean ups. Carrera is soft, no doubt. Compared to the on site honing costs, a new top might be less expensive.

I would have a local fabricator look at it and see if anything can be done. If so, once it is cleaned up, purchase their recommended sealer and keep it sealed on a regular basis.

Thanks for the feedback. I have had a professional once fix a serious etching issue created when citrus juice was trapped between a placemat and the counter for several hours. They did a good job but also said that everyday marks are part of the 'character' of the surface. I have used a stonetec bullet proof sealer countless times but it doesn't really help...plus a day to day 'cleaner and daily sealer' spray.

I plan on getting a local professional back in and hope that he can fix the major issues and offer some preventative solutions. Thanks again for the feedback.

Thanks. Yes, our Master bath is entirely marble (floors, shower, counters) and the counters give us the same problem. Beautiful...but best viewed from a distance:)

Does anyone have any updates about the honed quartz? I was looking at calcatta vicenza in matte ( honed) because when i went to MSI in Norwood, MA, I found that the matte wasn't as busy of a pattern and it was a lighter, more soothing design. After reading these reviews i'm nervous about the honed but I do like it better than polished, and I find that polished is more of an ivory and the matte is more of a white. Please help! I'm meeting tonight with the contractor.

Honed is not the issue. It is the material. Quartz will be fine. It was the marble that is a horrible choice for kitchens.

As an update to the etching issue. 1 Thing I have done as a preventative measure is to put large, thick white cutting board’s On either side of the sink and on either side of the stove. Visually they are not intrusive and practically speaking these are areas that are high traffic for potential damage. I put little rubber feet on each of the corners so they wouldn’t slide around on the smooth countertop. We did have these counters re- honed no longer, followed by strict instructions to be careful when you are leaving sitting on the counter. Within a week we had 2 ‘incidents’ So there’s only so much you can do.
