There was a time not so long ago when you couldn't turn around without seeing some cute little songbird. There they were as decals perched along the wall. There again on graphic pillows. There were bluebird coffee mugs and dishtowels and candles. Birds became the totem animal of hip design.
Now, I am no predictor of trends, but if I were, I'd stake my claim on butterflies as the next fauna to make it big. They are easy to silhouette; they're pretty; they're colorful, and they're feminine without being too girly.
