kitchens
I've been thinking about how to have storage on the back wall between the window and the patiod doors without making it look busy or too kitcheny when you see it from the living room. We could have an exhaust fan over the stove and two upper cabinets virtually hidden (with push/open magnetic pulls and no hardware).
lots of leg space for the seaters
we know all about drawers; included this to remind us how to use them.
I think penandts that have clear shades would work in the kitchen; it's just the opaque ones I don't usually like.
I think this would be a great place to keep bananas or small herb plants; I just like the look of it hanging.
if we did something like around the stove or cooktop the doors should be bifold and fold away from the stove.
I like the idea of an open area where frequently used (decent sized) items could be stored
I like the idea of doors on the pantry opening like this - lose a few inches but get much better view to find things.
It still make sense to me to remove the 'warmer drawer' under the stove and replace it with a good full extension drawer even if we loose a little space.
If we aren't putting the garbage / recycling under the kitchen sink we should definitely build drawers that work around the plumbing.
I'm not convinced that plate racks like this save any space but they do look nice
the tablet stand incorporates the utensil holder as well.
I like the round storage thingy on the wall. I've seen several of these, some more rustic than others and I just like the idea of the different sizes of shelves and the pleasure of the shape.
a blue and white kitchen
If we made the back taller with a divider, we could still make this as a stepladder. Great design for small spaces.Plan at https://sawsonskates.com/diy-ladder-chair/
Sort of how our pantry wall could look - not exxactly but the combination of appliances like the microwave and drawers down below are appealing.
from Llight in the Box
this kitchen has cabinets on either side of the exhaust and running along the ceiling as well. I kinda like it.
while I don't think I would do it in stainless steel, I like the shape and the belt like look - could do this in a nice wood instead.
another possible pantry approach - we could do this type of pullout on the billies and a small counter in front of the window with pullouts below.
pretty interesting idea - probably available on Amazon
interesting backsplash
backsplash
this is a similar shape to our kitchen - wonder if it would work - love the idea of the pantry next to the fridge but putting the fridge in the furnace room gives us extra space. Like the rounded end of the peninsula.
I like the arch - it hides the exhaust hood but you'd never know - it just looks like it belongs there.
I guess when we started out opening the house, this is sort of the kind of thing I was thinking about
of we want plugs below the counter, this would be the way to go.
things to store in toekick drawers
another good reason for wood drawers.
this would be a strong way to create a pullout for chopping on.; could work in any location. If we moved the dishwasher to in front of the one side of the patio doors we might be able to pull something like this off. It would limit or eliminate the view of the deck from the diningroom - maybe too high a cost.
very interesting - microwave, coffee centre and appliance garage all together. Gotta think about this.; if we did something like this on the dishwaser wall I woner what it would look like.
I'm liking the contrast between the white cabinets and blue walls and the continuation under the island.
how about this or something like it for a backsplash?
drawers don't have to be used for the same things- this one is divided quite skillfully and we can have charging inside drawers and appliance garages if we have a device that keeps them off when the drawer is closed. we could have something that can be toggled in place to keep a drawer slightly open for charging.
ame treatment for deeper drawers - route the back and front walls - but the drawers have to have decent sides for that.
we could make flexible drawer dividers with the router this way - just shallow routes that are 1/4" and we could buy that hobby wood that is already finished for the dividers.
Maybe the small cabinet beside the stove could be a top drawer but the rest a pullout like this. The top drawer is needed to store the parchment paper.
we could make a backsplash out of some decorative arborite. Simple to clean. And could be quite striking if we find the right product.
In this view you can see they continued the blue into the diningroom; we can do that with the drawers under the desk.
a view of blue but not too dominating
Now here's a kitchen with almost the blue we are going for and it's interesting to see the mix.
Maybe we could fake a larger window with a picture of the deck?
I think these are high gloss and bevelled tiles. I like this a lot.
I like the look of this hood and tying the trim to the cabinets is an interesting idea; however I think I like the one where it's across the whole space and includes cabinets.
