Has anyone here created a gabion with chainlink fence? We had an idea to use a long gabion for a retaining wall. We would have our fence guy install two rows of chainlink, 106 feet long, 2 feet high, and 1-2 feet wide (undecided on that). Then, w would fill it a combination of decorative glass rocks and large river rock.

You mentioned the cost effectivity of gabion cages, However, the cost of filling it with clean-cut stones or wood was not mentioned. I am just wondering.

As with any project, the cost will depend on what materials you use. In the wall that I built, we used some lava stone that was donated and then purchased more stone that was very inexpensive. I wanted to add some bling to the wall and so purchased a small amount of glass rock. That was pretty pricey and we could never have afforded to build the whole wall with the glass.
