Cool, glad it's a useful inspiration! The cabinets were custom made.

Think of it as a three foot opening for the door, and imagine that dimension at each point in the hall. So there is a little extra depth provided by the space above the cabinet, making the passage feel more open. As for what can be done with the shallow cabinet, all kinds of things! In this instance it is particularly useful for storing small art pieces that are displayed on the shelf. One may rotate the pieces from the cabinet below, and provide room for an ever-growing collection.

The cabinets are capped with a painted wood top.

The corridor is 3 feet wide and the cabinets are 8" deep; pretty shallow! But useful.

Hmm, not sure, we did not select any of the furnishings for this project.

Don't have the room for a wall of built-ins? Here is a wonderful option that will still give you plenty of storage space without claiming the entire hallway.

Wall cabinet. If you have the room and are open to some construction, consider adding built-in cabinetry. Extra storage is always a plus, and the surface offers additional display area.

7. Storage with display space. Now it's time to combine some of the ideas from the above examples. This set of narrow cabinetry provides additional storage in this narrow hallway and a display area to highlight the family's treasured trinkets and pictures. The lighting design in this hall is done perfectly, providing true gallery-like lighting.
