In this view from above, authentic Moroccan brass teardrop pendants fill the high space above the custom-designed curved fireplace, and dramatic 18-foot-high golden draperies emphasize the room height and capture sunlight with a backlit glow. Hanging the hand-pierced brass pendants down to the top of the fireplace lowers the visual focus and adds a stunning design element. To create a more intimate space in the living area, long white glass pendants visually lower the ceiling directly over the seating. The global-patterned living room rug was custom-cut at an angle to echo the lines of the sofa, creating room for the adjacent pivoting bookcase on floor casters. By customizing the shape and size of the rug, we’ve defined the living area zone and created an inviting and intimate space. We juxtaposed the mid-century elements with stylish global pieces like the Chinese-inspired red lacquer sideboard, used as a media unit below the TV.

This family room was updated by removing the old knotty pine and replacing it with wallboard around the glass shelving area, with Stikwood over the the fireplace. The custom simple surround and live-edge big leaf maple mantel complete the update. The sloped ceiling was painted the same color as the walls using a soft green both as a nod to nature and the client's down-to-earth nature.

The positioning of the fireplace, and the wood burning stove, along with the continuous flow of traffic in this area did not allow for a deep mantel. To bring a bit of of the outside in, a custom big leaf mantel was made specific for this space.

San Francisco loft contemporary living room, which mixes a mid-century modern sofa with Moroccan influences in a patterned ottoman used as a coffee table, and teardrop-shaped brass pendant lamps. Full height gold curtains filter sunlight into the space and a yellow and green patterned rug anchors the living area in front of a wall-mounted TV over a mid-century sideboard used as media storage.

When the homeowners purchased this sprawling 1950’s rambler, the aesthetics would have discouraged all but the most intrepid. The décor was an unfortunate time capsule from the early 70s. And not in the cool way - in the what-were-they-thinking way. When unsightly wall-to-wall carpeting and heavy obtrusive draperies were removed, they discovered the room rested on a slab. Knowing carpet or vinyl was not a desirable option, they selected honed marble. Situated between the formal living room and kitchen, the family room is now a perfect spot for casual lounging in front of the television. The space proffers additional duty for hosting casual meals in front of the fireplace and rowdy game nights. The designer’s inspiration for a room resembling a cozy club came from an English pub located in the countryside of Cotswold. With extreme winters and cold feet, they installed radiant heat under the marble to achieve year 'round warmth. The time-honored, existing millwork was painted the same shade of British racing green adorning the adjacent kitchen's judiciously-chosen details. Reclaimed light fixtures both flanking the walls and suspended from the ceiling are dimmable to add to the room's cozy charms. Floor-to-ceiling windows on either side of the space provide ample natural light to provide relief to the sumptuous color palette. A whimsical collection of art, artifacts and textiles buttress the club atmosphere.

Cet espace de 50 m² devait être propice à la détente et la déconnexion, où chaque membre de la famille pouvait s’adonner à son loisir favori : l’écoute d’un vinyle, la lecture d’un livre, quelques notes de guitare… Le vert kaki et le bois brut s’harmonisent avec le paysage environnant, visible de part et d’autre de la pièce au travers de grandes fenêtres. Réalisés avec d’anciennes planches de bardage, les panneaux de bois apportent une ambiance chaleureuse dans cette pièce d’envergure et réchauffent l’espace cocooning auprès du poêle. Quelques souvenirs évoquent le passé de cette ancienne bâtisse comme une carte de géographie, un encrier et l’ancien registre de l’école confié par les habitants du village aux nouveaux propriétaires.

Un studio aménagé complètement sur mesure, avec une grande salle de bain avec lave-linge, la cuisine ouverte tout équipé, un lit surélevé dans un coin semi-privé, espace salle à manger et le séjour côté fenêtre filante. Vue sur la terrasse végétalisé.
