Master Bathroom revenovated to become bright while and spacious. Using the existing white vanities, we topped them with a white and grey quartz countertop. Adding The light warm wood cabinets to each side of the sink allows for optimal bathroom storage and also a breath of warmth that the bathroom desperately needed. The large mirror and Chrome fixtures added a touch of metal to the space which allows the Turquoise backsplash glass tile to vividly shine through. The freestanding tub sits on a dark porcelain tile platform, light roman shades cover the windows and a chair sits as sculpture.

Kathy is desperate to renovate the family home, but husband Alex is forever procrastinating. Their big house is a 90s relic, with peach walls, vertical blinds and miles of beige tiles. Their dated home is now a standing joke with family and friends, but Kathy’s had enough. In a few weeks she’s hosting a family reunion and wants to surprise them all with some serious wow factor.

Mike and Anne of Barrington Hills desperately needed to update and renovate both their kid’s hall bath and guest bath, and in their 1980’s home each project presented a different set of unique challenges to overcome. When they set out to identify the right remodeling company to partner with, it was important to find a company that could help them to visualize design solutions for the bath renovations. When they came across Advance Design Studio’s website, they were immediately drawn to the solution-oriented remodeling process and the family friendly company.
They say they chose Advance Design because of the integrated approach of “Common Sense Remodeling”, making the design, project management and construction all happen in one place. When they met with Project Designer Michelle Lecinski, they knew they chose the right company. “Michelle’s excellent work on the initial designs made it easy to proceed with Advance Design Studio,” Mike said.
Like most homeowners anticipating a big renovation project, they had some healthy fears; with two bathrooms being remodeled at the same time they worried about timeframes and staying within budget. With the help of Michelle, and the “Common Sense” guidelines, they were confident that Advance Design would stay true, orchestrating all the moving parts to stay within both the estimated timeline and budget.
The guest bath offered the biggest design challenge. A dormer obstruction made the already cramped shower awkward to access. Mike and Anne also wanted the shower size to be expanded, making it more accommodating. Working with Advance’s construction expert DJ Yurik, Michelle relocated the shower concealing the original dormer and creating a larger, more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing guest shower.
The unsightly and not at all user-friendly closet was removed and replaced with elegant White Maple Dura Supreme cabinetry with much improved function featuring dual tall linen cabinets, a special makeup area and two sinks, providing a dual vanity which was extremely important for better guest use.
The Fossil Brown quartz countertop is in pleasing contrast to the white cabinetry, and coordinates nicely with the mocha porcelain tile gracing the shower for an accent. The decorative glazed turquoise tile backsplash, tile border, and bottle niche adds a taste of marine green to the room, while marble-looking porcelain tile makes guests feel they are staying in a 5-star hotel. Polished nickel Kohler plumbing fixtures were chosen to add a touch of sophistication. This renovated guest bath is comfortable and elegant, and Anne and Mike’s house guests may never want to leave!
“The end result was updated and restyled bathrooms that the client will enjoy and increase the value of their home,” Designer Michelle said.
The children’s hall bath had its own set of challenges. The current placement of the sink was not conducive to the best use of the existing space, nor did it allow for any visual interest, something Advance’s designers always work to achieve even within the tight confines of a small bath. Advance removed the linen closet and used the gain in wall space to create a dramatic focal point on the vanity wall. They also took additional space that wasn’t being used for new Storm Gray Dura Supreme tall built-in linen cabinets, creating functional storage space that the former bath lacked. A customized glass splash panel was created for the bath, and the high ceilings with skylights were accented with a custom-made track lighting fixture featuring industrial pipe and cage materials.
Authentic cement encaustic tile was used wall to wall surrounding the vanity to create a dramatic and interesting back drop for the new elegant and stately furniture-like double sink wall. Hand-made encaustic tile originated in Western Europe beginning in the 1850’s and reminded Mike and Anne of tile they had seen and loved from their travels overseas. Today, encaustic tile has made a re-appearance in today’s modern bath design with its wide array of appealing patterns and artistic use of color.
Oil rubbed bronze Kohler fixtures echo the black accents in the beautiful tile pattern and reflect the matte black of the unique lighting detail. Easy to maintain Blanca Arabescato Quartz countertops add practicality and natural beauty and compliments the warm wood porcelain tile floors. This handsome bath has generated praise from friends and family even before it’s complete unveiling as photos of the space leaked out on social media! It’s not only completely functional to use, but especially pretty to look at.
“Advance Design Studio did a terrific job for us. We really appreciated how easy it was to work with them on a complex project of the complete remodeling of two bathrooms. They very capably handled all the details from design, to project management, to construction. It is a great group of people to work with and we would welcome the opportunity to work with them again anytime,” Mike said.

2011 NARI CAPITAL COTY GRAND AWARD WINNER
Built in 1980, this single family home in Fairfax Station desperately needed remodeling. The homeowners cited lack of space, old appliances, dark cabinets and not enough natural light coming in as just a few of its problems.
Design solutions to their problems included adding space via a two-foot bump out behind the breakfast area to make room for a larger table and more seating, and moving a wall out 18” to create a wider kitchen. This second move allowed one wall to house the kitchen’s pantry, double oven and refrigerator. Stainless steel professional-grade appliances also include an electric cooktop and range hood.
The added space accommodated a center island which provides more storage, houses a built-in microwave and incorporates display cabinets for the owner’s prized china. Both the island and perimeter cabinets are topped with an exotic dark granite counter. A custom-made hutch matches the cabinetry perfectly.
The new open concept design lets guests move freely between kitchen, dining area and family room. A triple window in the dining area and double window over the sink area meet the owner’s requirement for bringing in more natural light.
MIREWORKS
Another successful remodel! This home featured a large but dated and dysfunctional kitchen and an oddly configured master bath, which was in desperate need of a complete rework. After meeting with the homeowners to discuss their desires and needs for the space, Mireworks was able to provide them with multiple design options. Once our clients reviewed and decided on a combination of the options, a preliminary design was developed and reviewed in the 3D. Detailed plans were prepared, and work began. We could not be more pleased with the finished product!

This bathroom / Laundry used to be really un-user friendly, and was in desperate need of a Renovation.
We removed every item from both rooms including the gib and floor boards, and transformed the Bathroom and Laundry into this fantastic useable space.
Ridgeline Renovations
This bright artsy addition was designed and built for an avid gardener desperate for more natural light. The off-white and muted wood tones used throughout the addition enhance the vividness of the nearby gardens and entice light to reflect within the space. A statement gas fireplace was added and designed to match a wood-burning one which supports a cherished mantle of driftwood plucked from the sands of Prince Edward Island. Together, these elements create a nostalgic, personalized area for mindful reflection.
In the kitchen, the custom cabinetry wears the same soft palette of bright woods and white tones. Open one of these cabinets and you’ll activate interior lighting – perfect for entertaining as the late afternoon light wanes. Even as it does though, the large, picturesque windows we installed (hand-selected by our client) continue to warm the space into the twilight hours.
This spacious addition is a reminder that our homes should integrate with outdoor spaces in a way that enhances the value and enjoyment found on both sides of the door.

This bookshelf was full of lawyers books. We packed those up and staged this bookshelf in this house. The house was for sale. When the homeowner called us, it had been on the market nearly a year. She was desperate. After we finished with the house it sold in 3 weeks!

There was an existing raised pine deck that desperately needed replacing. A small lawn and a small patio with a pergola. The client didn’t like anything about the space and commissioned us for a complete redesign.
They wanted their new garden to be filled with colourful plants, raised herb beds and a new deck terrace.
Since completion in 2020 we have revisited this project to check up on the garden and this is what it looks like now.

This remodel was a dated 1980s Cape Cod style home that desperately needed updating with the kitchen starting as the foundation for the rest of the home. The owners purchased the property in 2013 with the intent of replacing the existing kitchen installed in 2000, as well as updating most surfaces throughout the home. The space while moderately sized, felt cramped due to the L-shaped design and eat-in island that disrupted traffic flow from the mudroom, dining room and sliding doors to the patio. The owners knew they wanted to bring the light from the southern facing front of the home to the dark cave-like feeling of the kitchen. This was remedied by knocking down the wall between the existing dining room (now a lounge area), widening the entrance to the family room and creating a pathway to the existing formal living room (now the dining room). Also to create better traffic flow into the kitchen, the existing mudroom door was moved to the opposite side of the wall.
A large work island with cooktop, oven and convection/microwave was designed for efficiency and maintaining clean site lines. The work triangle allows for quick and easy meal prep and clean-up for the busy family. Space at the end of the kitchen was perfectly suited for a large kitchen table with views of the back yard, easy conversation with the cook at the island or those hanging in the newly appointed lounge area. The new doorway between the kitchen and dining room showcases the 10ft floor to ceiling bay window, allows more light to flood into the space and creates easy access between the two rooms for family gatherings. Given the home owners relocated to the area for job reasons and are not sure how long they will be in this home, we helped them achieve a balance of a design and finishes that they not only love, but would be appealing to many if another move was in their near future.

This Denver Area Littleton home was in desperate need of new siding. The composite wood siding was swelling and soft in many areas, with consistent edge-checking on nearly every lap. We replaced the siding, trim, soffits and fascia using James Hardie fiber cement and we installed Hardie's beaded porch panel on the porch ceiling for a timeless finished look. The homeowners had always dreamed of having a classic yellow house, so that's what we painted it! We used Sherwin-Williams Duration exterior paint for superior longevity in the Colorado elements.
