“Traditional Cotswold house, impressive galleried hall to open plan living linked to outside space with far reaching southerly views ”
Our clients would like to build a 4 bed oak frame home in the Cotswolds.
Project Background
The owners bought their plot in a pretty village location intending to knock down the existing 1970’s bungalow.
Both are commercial pilots with very busy lifestyles and are keen to have a turnkey service with the design and build of their oak frame home fully project managed.
Having submitted a pre planning application before our involvement the couple were concerned they would be limited to a 7.5m ridge height – which at best would mean a one and half storey house. We’ve since been successful obtaining planning permission for a full 8.3m ridge height two storey oak frame home.
The House
This new home will have four bedrooms, a study and an open plan kitchen and living area opening onto a terrace with views across open countryside. The floor plans are shown above.
Progress
This project was completed in Summer 2016. We really love this build as it has so much character from the grand entrance and hallway, the balcony and the oak frame exterior and interior.
Salberg Property Ltd.
Salberg acquired a 3000 sq/ft property and obtained the necessary planning permissions to convert the space into two exclusive apartments. The new development was set within an adjoining pair of mews houses located within a quiet Bayswater mews. Through skilful design and attention to detail, we created two luxurious apartments.
Both apartments have private entrances, large open-plan living spaces, three double bedrooms and has the added benefit of the latest home automation and modern luxuries.

Columbia Roofing Inc.
Mr. Mescher – Home Owner Shares Story
“I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you that I am extremely pleased with the work that Columbia Roofing did in replacing the roof on our Kent Island home. The house has a complicated roof structure with multiple gables and a quarter round conical roof which spans between two vertical walls in the back. We choose a 50 year Owens Corning shingle and to assure a good job, we only obtained quotes from roofing companies that received outstanding reviews.
We were pleased when the Columbia production crew roofed the house without issue and brought the full visual effect of slate using the 4 tab asphalt shingle with its distinctive keyway.
When it came to the conical roof, we were faced with the possibility of having to install a metal roof in lieu of maintaining the slate like appearance that was so prominent on the other roof sections of the house. Our preference was to maintain the appearance of slate on the conical section similar to that seen on the old slate roof cathedrals. While this is easy to say, I can now appreciate how difficult it is to do.
To honor our wishes, Ben Alsop came to the house and worked through the complicated layout necessary to use the same 4 tab shingles on the conical section. To do the job properly, every single 4 tab shingle had to be cut into individual tabs.
Each tab was then taken up on the roof where the keyway was aligned to vertical through a system of straight lines drawn from the point of the conical roof to the starter shingle at the roof’s edge. Each tab had to be cut again (often multiple times) after the tab alignment was complete. To assure the accuracy necessary to maintain the visual effect, Ben took it upon himself to personally perform the roofing of the conical section.
Ben is a manager for Columbia Roofing who no longer performs the physical roofing work after coming up through the ranks of the roofing trade. His personal dedication to getting this job done for us in a way that is simply stellar could not go without acknowledgement. Ben is not only a craftsman, he is an artisan whose skill set can clearly be seen in the pictures that I have attached.
I want to thank Columbia Roofing for a job well done and particularly I want to thank Ben for taking the time and putting in the effort to truly make this a stellar installation.”

A highly emotional collection characterized by the material nature of the woods, by the skillful lacquering , retro style of the mirrors and the metal reflections: ILBagno describes an intimate and refined atmosphere with a return to origins, a project that looks to the past to explore the future.
A proposal less rigorous and minimal which allows you to recover the memory of familiar images, the style of a noble past, the suggestions that come from different styles.
Not nostalgic but rather current, a reworking of content obtained through the antoniolupi style almost maniacal attention to detail, the excellence of the workmanship and materials used.
Ceramica Senio
Ferrous colour shades ranging from rust, bronze, chalk, and ancient whites. This is the pictorial essence of the glazes that mostly characterize the METEOR collection. METEOR is the ideal collection of contemporary flooring with a solid minimal profile that provides continuity with no interruptions from the night area to the day area of the home and extends into the bathroom and the kitchen. The modularity of the three sizes in conjunction whth the octagon on a mesh makes METEOR an essential choice that offers an extremely versatile and expressive style aimed at obtaining excellent results in terms of esthetics and resistance. As a wall covering solution, METEOR offers a particularly strong, yet warm and mild pictorial sensation, while at the same time producing a complete architectural ceramic project. By including the diamond listel on a mesh, METEOR represents a very complete collection which highlights its esthetical and decorative elements as well as its technical aspects.

Snygg Design
Our clients contacted Snygg to refresh their downtown condo for a lucrative and quick sale within a saturated real estate market.
Our team reconfigured the space through design elements and decor to create a space with character from what was once previously a "cookie cutter" 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit.
Within the first hour of being placed on the market against similar units (at higher listing prices), our client was able to obtain a buyer within the first hour of listing, and sell at the price desired.

We appreciate Lodha Group for trusting Valerius to execute first of its kind project in India in collaboration with Timber Play UK. The project comprises of Archimedes Screw, Ball Valve, Paddle Pump and many more equipment.
The complexity in the design was to provide water at different pressures to each equipment as specified by the manufacture to obtain the desired water effect.
Secondly being children play area the water quality also had to meet stringent quality parameters to ensure safety and hygiene.
Lodha Group is one of the largest real estate developer and is known to provide not only world class amenities but also such exclusive living experience to its customers.
Chi Renovation & Design
The original kitchen in this home had a cramped galley style kitchen with a poor work flow. The original cabinetry was dark and outdated. By removing the wall between the kitchen and the dining room, we were able to obtain the open concept the clients were hoping for.
With the addition of a kitchen island, we managed to salvage the same amount of kitchen storage after demolishing a wall of cabinets while adding some additional seating for kitchen entertaining and breakfast on the go. The built-in appliance wall creates a seamless path of travel from the kitchen to the laundry room. The dining room was also severely cramped and featured floral wallpaper and felt disconnected from the kitchen. The walls along both sides of the dining room were removed to open it up to the kitchen and living area. Our design team opted to accent the dining area with a gorgeous brass chandelier that plays off of the brass fixtures in the kitchen. A custom bench seat using the same cabinets used in the kitchen creates a sense of cohesion throughout the new open plan. Those same cabinets were also carried into the living room to frame the fireplace.

TAG ARCHITECTS
We were originally asked by the Clients to remodel and enlarge small 1950s townhouse standing on a pleasantly secluded south-facing plot. But after some analysis it became obvious that poor quality and modest size of the original house was making it unviable for transformation into a comfortable residence. Demolishing the original house and building a new modern house in its place was the only possible alternative.
We prepared the designs, negotiated and obtained planning permission for demolishing the existing house and building a new larger one with large new basement in its place. The new house has more than double the floor area of the original one. It is of extremely high environmental standards, with comfortable and spacious floor plans and is of inoffensive design that sits tactfully between its neighbours offering harmonious addition to the Conservation Area.
To achieve continuity of the streetscape the construction materials chosen for the new house are referencing the prevailing materials of the neighbouring houses. The design allows the house to assert it own visual identity, but without jarring contrasts to its immediate neighbours.
The front facade finished in visually heavier masonry with relatively small window openings is more enclosing in appearance, while the private rear facade in mainly white render and glass opens the house to the southern sunlight, to the private rear garden and to the attractive views beyond.
Placing all family areas and most bedrooms on the warm and sunny south-facing rear side and the services and auxiliary areas on the colder north-facing front side contribute to the energy efficient floor plans. Extensive energy-saving measures include a bank photovoltaic panels supplementing the normal electricity supply and offsetting 1.5 tonnes of CO2 per year.
The interior design fit-out was carefully designed to express and complement the modern, sustainable and energy-conscious ethos of the new house. The styling and the natural materials chosen create comfortable light-filled contemporary interiors of timeless character.

Our clients in Shepton Mallet wanted to improve their beautiful cottage with a sun room.
Adding a lean-to hardwood conservatory would provide our clients with an extra living space in which they could enjoy views of their pretty garden.
Their home is a beautiful Grade II listed farmhouse cottage, for which our specialist team were able to obtain both planning permission and listed building consent. The lean-to is a traditional design that complementary the cottage.
The stonework on the dwarf wall was matched to that of the cottage and the woodwork was painted in a pastel shade which matched the existing windows.

Broseley
Broseley was appointed by Haines Phillips Architects as the principal contractor for this prestigious property in Notting Hill.
The imposing double-fronted Victorian house was extensively renovated, remodeled and extended. It was transformed from a down-at-heel state to an elegant and spacious family home.
The work completed by Broseley included construction of the basement floor, an excavation below the front garden to extend the basement into ancillary ‘vault’ rooms and rear infill extensions at lower ground and ground floor levels. The cellular basement rooms were converted into a light and spacious open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting room as part of the internal refurbishment, following the complete demolition of the existing internal fabric.
To allow for sympathetic restoration of a striking building, period detailing was re-instated to the primary fabric of the house. New aspects of the internal fit-out were designed in a pared-down contemporary style, to enhance and complement existing features.
Haines Phillips obtained advantageous planning permission and, alongside Broseley and the design team, took the project from concept design through to completion, delivering to the clients’ extremely tight and challenging programme.
