The second floor Irish Pub was added after construction was complete on this 17k sq ft mansion by Landmark Custom Builder & Remodeling. Our faux painter did an excellent job creating that warm wood paneled look with paint and trim! This is across from the wet bar in the previous photo. Theater entrance is to the right. Interiors by Mary Susan
This project is very dear to my heart. We were hired from the get go and were there from ground breaking till the art was hung. It was a true collaboration between builder, designer and client. This family oriented couple with two grown children and grand children wanted a warm relaxed yet sophisticated home. The colors found in the Versailles patterned foyer stone were inspirational for the color scheme. We contrasted the soft butters and caramels with corals and terra cottas and golds.
Architecturally we added the ceiling panels in the hall to add interest to an otherwise boring ceiling. The hand scraped walnut floors along with the distressed walnut doors gave the home an old world look. Notice the hand painted richly colored dining room walls. The enormous lower level was divided into different areas that were defined by tumbled stones set in an aggregate. The theater, wine cellar, bar and game table each were connected by aggregate yet set apart by the various tile designs. This beautifully Villa style home is a place where friends and family alike can gather for many occasions to come.

Inspired from an old Hollywood theater, these spectacular doors are in fact basic solid core doors, stained black. The upholstered panels are made of 1/4" plywood, cut from a custome-made template, and drilled with many holes. Our local upholsterer covered it with gorgeous leather-like vinyl, and installed many material-matched buttons! Then we added half-moon plates, pulls and kick plates. The side columns are made with PVC pipes cut in half. The rest is gold and black painted trims, grass cloth wall paper and funky animal print carpet.

Trompe l'oeil mural -everything you see in this photo is fake, except for the wooden floor and the baseboard which has been painted to look like the front of a step up into a hallway:
Design concept, trompe l'oeil mural, and faux finishes for movie artifact collection in foyer, entrance hall and home movie theater.
Inspired by 1930′s movie palaces and art deco icons like the Chrysler building, McKeithan created this home theater featuring faux inlaid black and gold marble, sienna marble, and antique bronze architectural elements. Deco frames accentuate the client’s collection of autographed movie posters, photographs, and props. The walls are fauxed in a rich antique gold and red leather finish. The first photo in this series shows before and after shots of the doorway from the hall to the theater. This hallway adjoins the trompe l’oeil mural foyer.
This mural features trompe l’oeil elements painted to appear 3-D like the faux finished architecture of the adjoining hallway and theater. Everything pictured in the mural is actually painted on flat walls but made to appear to recede in space; columns, curtains, reflective marble tile floor, carpeting, doors, framed posters, doors to outside, and a life-sized Oscar statue all are trompe l'oeil.
