A New Home in the Craftsman Style in Burlingame, California
Our design of this large house in Burlingame was inspired by nearby Craftsman style homes. We also designed the swimming pool, pool house and bridges in the back yard. Carefully designed wood brackets and details complement the strong symmetrical form of the exterior. Traditional wood and leaded glass windows, stone masonry and slate tile roofs with copper gutters also contribute to this authentic and timeless design. This rich palette of materials and detailing are continued inside the house with coffered wood ceilings, painted wainscot paneling and trim, custom fireplace surrounds, decorative ironwork railings, and a curved entry stair. We represented our client in sensitive negotiations with neighbors of multiple Planning Commission hearings. The kitchen was featured in the 2006 Burlingame Classic Kitchen Tour.

We restored original dining room buffet, box beams and windows. Owners removed a lower ceiling to find original box beams above still in place. Buffet with beveled mirror survived, but not the leaded glass. New art glass panels were made by craftsman James McKeown. Sill of flanking windows was the right height for a plate rail, so there may have once been one. We added continuous rail with wainscot below. Since trim was already painted we used smooth sheets of MDF, and applied wood battens. Arch in bay window and enlarged opening into kitchen are new. Benjamin Moore (BM) colors are "Confederate Red" and "Atrium White." Light fixtures are antiques, and furniture reproductions. David Whelan photo

For this ground up project in one of Lafayette’s most prized neighborhoods, we brought an East Coast sensibility to this West Coast residence. Honoring the client’s love of classical interiors, we layered the traditional architecture with a crisp contrast of saturated colors, clean moldings and refined white marble. In the living room, tailored furnishings are punctuated by modern accents, bespoke draperies and jewelry like sconces. Built-in custom cabinetry, lasting finishes and indoor/outdoor fabrics were used throughout to create a fresh, elegant yet livable home for this active family of five.

A cozy breakfast nook set off of the kitchen and overlooking the back yard. During the day, this room is flooded with daylight and is the best place in the house to be. Vintage Edward Wormley chairs are mixed with a marble top Saarinen table with traditional beadboard and paned windows. The minimalist Robert Abbey pendant allows light to flow into the space by not obstructing the view to the ourdoors. An eclectic yet very pulled together space. Photo by Jeanne K Chung

The expanded powder room gets a classy upgrade with a marble tile accent band, capping off a farmhouse-styled bead-board wainscot. Crown moulding, an elegant medicine cabinet, traditional-styled wall sconces, and an antique-looking faucet give the space character.

Once an adjacent passage, the re-designed space allowed for this convenient message center, which carries the same vintage style. White beadboard wainscoting is carried through the kitchen into the message center area.

White shaker cabinets were used in this butler's pantry between the kitchen and the dining room. White beadboard was used on the walls to add architectural interest. The wall cabinets have glass doors with traditional mullions. Closed storage on the bottom. Marble looking quartz is a durable surface for this area of the house.

The wainscoting and wood trim assists with the light infused paint palette, accentuating the rich; hand scraped walnut floors and sophisticated furnishings. Black is used as an accent throughout the foyer to accentuate the detailed moldings. Judges paneling reaches from floor to to the second floor, bringing your eye to the elegant curves of the brass chandelier.

2011 ASID Award Winning Design
This 10,000 square foot home was built for a family who prized entertaining and wine, and who wanted a home that would serve them for the rest of their lives. Our goal was to build and furnish a European-inspired home that feels like ‘home,’ accommodates parties with over one hundred guests, and suits the homeowners throughout their lives.
We used a variety of stones, millwork, wallpaper, and faux finishes to compliment the large spaces & natural light. We chose furnishings that emphasize clean lines and a traditional style. Throughout the furnishings, we opted for rich finishes & fabrics for a formal appeal. The homes antiqued chandeliers & light-fixtures, along with the repeating hues of red & navy offer a formal tradition.
Of the utmost importance was that we create spaces for the homeowners lifestyle: wine & art collecting, entertaining, fitness room & sauna. We placed fine art at sight-lines & points of interest throughout the home, and we create rooms dedicated to the homeowners other interests.

A classic 1925 Colonial Revival bungalow in the Jefferson Park neighborhood of Los Angeles restored and enlarged by Tim Braseth of ArtCraft Homes completed in 2013. Originally a 2 bed/1 bathroom house, it was enlarged with the addition of a master suite for a total of 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. Original vintage details such as a Batchelder tile fireplace with flanking built-ins and original oak flooring are complemented by an all-new vintage-style kitchen with butcher block countertops, hex-tiled bathrooms with beadboard wainscoting and subway tile showers, and French doors leading to a redwood deck overlooking a fully-fenced and gated backyard. The new master retreat features a vaulted ceiling, oversized walk-in closet, and French doors to the backyard deck. Remodeled by ArtCraft Homes. Staged by ArtCraft Collection. This eclectic dining room has both elegant and rustic elements, incorporating both styles into a bold statement. The metallic accented wallcovering, adds a retro vibe, while the traditional wainscoting is freshened by a neutral palette of pale taupe and crisp white. Crystal orbs add a dash of glamour and the rustic farm table gives it some grounding. Antique horns flank a simple silver urn in front of the soft folds of the casual yet elegant hobbled roman fabric shade. The enameled brass plate adds the perfect flash of Ochre and the antique milling wheel hangs on the wall over the playful wallcovering.*Photography by Damon Landry
