This used to be a completely unfinished basement with concrete floors, cinder block walls, and exposed floor joists above. The homeowners wanted to finish the space to include a wet bar, powder room, separate play room for their daughters, bar seating for watching tv and entertaining, as well as a finished living space with a television with hidden surround sound speakers throughout the space. They also requested some unfinished spaces; one for exercise equipment, and one for HVAC, water heater, and extra storage. With those requests in mind, I designed the basement with the above required spaces, while working with the contractor on what components needed to be moved. The homeowner also loved the idea of sliding barn doors, which we were able to use as at the opening to the unfinished storage/HVAC area.

Unfinished basements are usually a headache for home and business owners, not just because of the waste of space and precious square footage, but because unused basements are more likely to deteriorate, accumulate humidity, mold, allergens, and endanger the overall foundations and structures when there is lack of maintenance.
Improve and transform your space into an additional guest room, a custom-designed home office, a bar or an an entertainment room; add closets and storage space or contact us to help you with more ideas to give your basement a good make over!

Allegheny Mountain Hardwood Flooring
White Oak Live Sawn - random width - hand crafted edge - circle sawn - engineered floor glued down on concrete with radiant heat in a walk out basement.
The idea was to have this floor look like an old cellar floor. It's not reclaimed, but it looks as if it could be.

LaMantia Design and Remodeling
After years of maintaining offices in a large office complex, our clients decided to establish home-based offices within existing unfinished (raw) space in the lower level of their home and, in so doing, invest in their financial future. The clients happen to be accountants so they view this finished project as a very good return on an investment. As an added bonus, by finishing previously unfinished square footage in their home, as you will see from the photos, they gained much more than just office space.
When the clients met with LaMantia designer Gina Mazzone, CKD, CBD, their main request was for two offices and a nice home for their pool table. During the course of their meetings, Mazzone gathered information and offered ideas and, ultimately, drawings of possibilities. Our clients were amazed at all the function they were gaining.
In addition to the sought after two offices, the clients gained an additional bathroom, an entertainment area, with a wet bar, a comfortable movie (or sports) viewing space plus the existing pool table now resides in a beautiful and inviting environment. And, of course, they also gained the much sought after extra storage areas.

This is the family room in the basement. This basement was unfinished and the old cement floor had to be raised. New cement was added. A third bathroom was added along with two bedrooms.
Natural Construction
This was a completely unfinished space. We installed a steel beam spanning the length of the house, added a laundry room, a full bath, new sewer line, new drain. This is the finished familyroom
