The owners of this historic farm property occasionally host weddings out here, so they wanted a space that would work for their family as well as their guests. This large wood-burning outdoor fireplace on the shore of their farm pond is a delightful gathering spot. Because the hot Virginia sun bakes this area all day long, I opted to use travertine marble pavers to keep the patio from getting too hot.
