Chris and Marna believe in Ohana Mau Loa which means “family forever.” As return clients, they knew LiLu could help them build a vacation home in Hawaii that would provide a desirable and comfortable gathering place for four adult children and their spouses and 11 grandchildren. A central common space at the heart of the home with separate living quarters surrounding it helps to accommodate everyone with both shared and personal living spaces. Each has its own personality that showcases playful references to Big Island life. And yet the overall design concept weaves together a love of world travel with traditional tastes. Built with mahogany wood that is a staple of island construction, treasured heirlooms and other personal keepsakes are the perfect complement to make this dream home feel welcoming and familiar. Fabrics, finishes and furnishings were selected with the sea in mind and to accommodate wet swim suits, bare feet, and sandy shoes. ----- Project designed by Minneapolis interior design studio LiLu Interiors. Inspiration for a tropical bathroom remodel in Other

Rich hues and quality furnishings expertly selected for durability as well as beauty set this 3-bedroom, modern plantation style luxury villa apart. Its well designed space pleases the senses with its many custom details. Lovely island inspired murals by artist Penelope, such as the large-scale, antiqued pineapples adorning the entry walls , lend an elegant and unique welcome. Mango red and palm green fabrics used throughout set a lush tropical vibe against relaxing earth tones. The expansive lanai provides additional comfortable living space with contemporary and classic furnishings and inspiring color.

This complete home remodel and addition began with the owners desire to renovate and update the original forty year old vacation home and features. The client was recommended to us by their friends who had hired us to remodel a vacation home in Carmel Valley. We began by selecting Jim Stroupe, a highly qualified local Architect, to devise an entirely new front facade and interior layout. He met with the client and quickly proposed a design which captured the Baja California look she had in mind. With a few revisions and another client meeting, we soon had a finished set of plans. The new home design included a dramatic new entryway, 10 foot high ceilings, expanded kitchen, and a re-designed master bedroom oriented to capture the expansive ocean views at this location. http://santaellamedia.com/

The master bath is rich in nature and yet still light and airy. Stone vessel sinks, bronze faucets and hardware. Cabinets of ribbon grain mahogany made to look like furniture. Cafe rainforest marble counter and full backsplash. Plantation doors. Art glass at shower surround and outdoor shower door. Beamed ceiling and wood fan.

Because the windows could not be relocated, JNRDS designed custom floating vanity mirrors. Faucets are Grohe Concetto in brushed nickel.
