About Us

Established in 2005, The Preservation Collaborative believes that every building has a life. Throughout that life, they change, bending to the needs and desires of their occupants. For centuries, they have silently provided us shelter from the elements; have become a refuge for memories, and have become treasured family/neighborhood keepsakes. In return, we have become the shepherds; we guide our buildings through the ages. Our team is comprised of award winning design professionals with decades of experience, assembled to provide clients with alternative options for their most valued asset. We have worked with our consultants on multiple projects; they share our design philosophy and our devotion towards sensitive improvement. Our projects range from small residential and commercial additions/renovations, to full scale historic resource management for large museums. I hired Preservation Collaborative, Ryan Hayward, for a kitchen renovation and found him to be just what I needed. He listened to what I was looking for and was knowledgeable about how to achieve the style and look I wanted while preserving as much of original materials and look as possible. His fees were very reasonable and work was finished on time. Ryan was good at discussing any problems that came up and had some of the best solutions. I am very happy with my new kitchen.

Ryan worked with us to be sure our design was right, and helped us know how to work with the contractors, and was a great advisor throughout the project, from planning to final inspection.

King Design Associates, Inc.

This firm has provided Their Expertise in the Design of Single & Multi-Family Residences. This firm provided Their Expertise on the Historically Correct Design of Replacement Windows in the Historical District of Crown Heights at 1418 Pacific Street in Brooklyn. The City of NY Historical Commission agreed with the Design Documents Submitted. A Building Permit was issued & is now complete. (Google this location for a Picture) Our firm still hand draws their solutions including Office Renovation Projects. The Preservation Collaborative continues to Provide the CAD generated Contract Construction Documents for all of our Projects. They are a pleasure to work with.
