About Us

For more than 20 years, native San Franciscan Laura Larkin's unique designs have graced luxury homes throughout the Bay Area and across the country. She creates custom high-end designs with classic, timeless elements for homes of all styles from contemporary to cottage to traditional. Laura’s designs surround new and treasured pieces in rich colors and textures, creating beautiful milieus for living that go beyond her clients’ imaginations but stay well within their taste. She loves creating rooms that relax and refresh and believes it is absolutely possible for function, beauty and comfort to co-exist in a single space. Her method is simple: "I listen and observe. I don't bring preconceived notions to a project. I want each space to be fresh, unique and timeless. I have four children and grew up in a large family, so I create rooms that allow life to unfold within them.”

Laura was a delight to work with from start to finish. She helped us with decorating our home with paint, furniture and window treatments. I was impressed with her sense of style & professionalism, her consciencious nature & focused, prompt attention. She was respectful of our budget & style preferences, offered helpful advice, & was always positive, courteous & trustworthy. Her delightful sense of humor helped me relax and enjoy the process, instead of being all uptight & worried. When there wasn't enough fabric for the original choice of window dressing, she worked extensively with the manufacturer to get just the right match/look to meet our needs. Overall, we are thrilled with the outcome, and would hire her and/or refer her in a minute!

Laura and I have worked together for more than twenty years and have, at some point, decorated every room in our two homes - a large suburban country home and an SF apartment. Laura has a large network of resources which allowed her to decorate my teenage son's bedroom with American-made cool, sturdy furniture with custom finishes and sizes, linens, and paint within four to five weeks, meeting my Thanksgiving deadline. Two days before Thanksgiving, Laura finished the installation with enthusiasm and energy. Billy and I were thrilled with his "new" bedroom. Our SF apartment is mostly custom with a few special previously owned pcs. Laura imported exquisite European fabrics for the furnishings/draperies; chose beautiful finishes and designs for the chandelier and other lighting. It is decorated in a contemporary/traditional/sophisticated style and has been photographed for publications. It is "grown-up", stunning and easy to live in. I highly recommend Laura for your decorating projects.

Laura Larkin worked for my husband and I some 15 years ago for a period of over 2 years. She is very creative and also really fun and easy to work with. She makes sure that the owner gets what they want for the house--she makes suggestions but does not have a set formula for every house she designs. We felt that the home was an expression of us-- not a third party idea of what our home should be. We recently came in contact with Laura again at the SF Designer Showcase house. Her room, even though one of the smallest in the large house, was the most creative both in her idea for the room and the selection of furniture, fabrics and particularly ceiling and wall/ window coverings. We have not needed a designer for many years now but are preparing to undertake a major project and have already talked with Laura about helping us with our new home.

Laura Larkin was a pleasure to work with! She is a gifted designer who listens! She has a wonderful "eye" for both beauty, utility/function and meshes the two seamlessly. From choosing the color of paint, furniture, window coverings, rugs, art and accessories, she does it all AND she was able to work within our budget. The condo we bought has some challenging aspects, like a very small narrow dining room and a small guest room/office space. Laura was able to make our small spaces look larger and found us the perfect furnishings for those rooms. She also took into consideration our need for storage. She respected our own "sentimental" pieces and worked them into her design, integrating both the new and the old. I cannot emphasize enough how "comfy" and beautiful she made our home. I love her taste and wish I had just a smidgen of her talent! I would highly recommend her to anyone.

I have had the pleasure of working with Laura Larkin twice. My husband and I built a home in northwest Napa Valley in 2000. Laura came on board to ease the overwhelming task of blending our old life with the new one and she made it work beautifully. We once again called Laura for a "refresher" challenge in 2013. She stepped back into our lives with efficiency and confidence and fresh ideas. Laura is timeless, a great listener, a go-getter, and no challenge is beyond her imagination. Our interior look is unique to us, without a designer's signature. I have seen other projects by Laura and they are completely individual. She steers toward quality but with respect to budget. She's particularly attuned to the natural environment and architecture that surround her projects, whether it's a beautiful view from a penthouse window or expansive landscape surrounding a hill top residence.
