Wentworth Style LLC
Historic Building Conservation Companies in Albany
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsNovember 13, 2013
“Patty Cooke at Wentworth Style provided a design consultation to guide a kitchen renovation. Within seconds after walking in the door, she identified the primary problem and had a solution. She recommended relocating access to our basement from the kitchen area into the closet in our front hall. Her suggestion -- and other suggestions about cabinetry, lighting, windows and appliance placement -- helped us work with a cabinetry company to create the perfect kitchen in our 1770 farmhouse. Our one hour consultation with Wentworth Style was invaluable.”

“Sonya Misiaszek came highly recommended to us by friends who were satisfied clients. It was very important to us that we had an experienced architect who would complete the job in a timely manner, would listen to our needs and wishes, had a good working relationship with the general contractor and his subs, and who was sensitive to the pristine wooded lakeside setting in which our 5,000+ sq ft home was to be constructed. We lived several states away from the project and were very pleased with Sonya's management of the design and construction and with her help in making decisions from afar. Sonya incorporated all of our unconventional ideas that made this house unique and dearly loved by our family. She included secret spaces for each of our children, two screened in sleeping porches with panoramic lake views, a loft on the second story looking over the kitchen, two stone fireplaces, a large walkout basement with ample storage space and a large boat room. She helped us select natural finishes that gave the house the interior "golden glow" for which we were hoping. We also specifically asked for the house to have a "camp like" feel, and Sonya's familiarity with New Hampshire inspired her to add camp sinks in the kids' rooms, painted floors and horizontal pine paneling (some distressed) and ceilings throughout, and stained rustic skirl siding on the exterior. This house is solid, and there is nowhere that we feel safer. It is very cozy, virtually pest proof, and it not only fits into its natural surroundings but also feels like a true reflection of us. The property came with a number of building restrictions and environmental protection issues. Sonya's patience and persistence kept the project moving, and it was completed in less than 14 months. Our expectations were exceeded.”

“Karina is a joy to work with! My husband and I consulted with Karina to try to figure out how to make our house work for us, my in-laws and our growing family. She had some wonderful ideas about how we could make it work. Ultimately, we decided to buy another house but are looking forward to working with her on my dream kitchen remodel once we get settled. I highly recommend working with her! She is so easy to get along with and really takes the time to understand what your vision is and advise you on what may or may not work. I was also impressed that she didn't want to advise anymore work than was within our budget, saving me the heartbreak of falling in love with something I couldn't ultimately have.”

“After meeting Gavin for the first time, I know our kitchen would be in good hands! We wanted to renovate our entire kitchen area, entranceway and at the same time, make it modern and practical for a family of 6. He gave us several different drawings and ideas and we collaborated on the final design. Through the entire process, his "designer" brain is always on! He is constantly trying to find the best fit for our needs and situation. He has a broad knowledge of not only architecture, but the entire design, permit, build, construction process. This is also why we loved working with him because he has a great sense of the cost required to complete our design and stay within our budget. Throughout the entire process, he was available by phone and email to coordinate, plan or fix small details. He worked seamlessly with the city to get our plans approved and permitted. It felt to us that our project was his only project and he knew every single detail probably better than us. We absolutely love our new kitchen and will for years to come! We will use him again for our stairway and upstairs renovation. I highly recommend Gavin for his amazing ideas, architectural skills, and positive attitude.”

“We hired David Burrows to design a first floor master bedroom suite for our 1952 house where we've lived for 40 years. I could not be happier with this new space, we have a new house at the same address. The addition is cozy yet spacious and well thought out. David is easy to work with and very talented. I would not hesitate a moment to recommend him. I feel fortunate to have worked with him.”

“I would highly recommend Margaret Innes at Studio E Architects. I really appreciated her breadth of knowledge and her willingness to listen. She had some really great ideas for my challenging kitchen that I was able to incorporate in my kitchen remodel about 8 years ago. That's why I hired her again to help with my master bath remodel. It was important to me to try to stay green and energy efficient as much as possible. She is LEEDs accredited but was very forth-coming in letting us know whether certain products or changes made sense for us in terms of return for our investment and house. Margaret is very organized and professional Architect and worth every penny. -Anita”
