“We initially contacted Frazier Associates as a potential architect for our retirement house in Nellysford VA. After meeting with their team we accepted their proposal and began working closely with our architect, Annie Mathot. Interactions moved from overall style and basic room layout to progressively more specific details about every aspect of the house. Annie was able to capture exactly what we were looking for as a concept and then guide us in making the multitude of decisions and choices involved in turning that concept into a set of plans. Meetings with her were always a pleasure (we actually enjoyed the process), and she was always knowledgable about pros and cons of design alternatives. She kept in close contact via email on an almost daily basis as the project moved forward. She and Frazier Associates kept everything on schedule, and prepared all of the required plans and drawings within the initial cost estimate. They provided suggestions for selection of a builder, and recommended the builder we eventually selected. Their knowledge of and experience with local builders was invaluable here since our house was not the typical residential construction project for the area. They continued to assist us throughout the process of getting the house built, interacting with us and the builder on a regular basis. Our vision was to have a "new old house" that had the feel of an older home, and Frazier Associates made it possible for us to achieve our desired result.”

“Working with Mr. Lawrie has been a pleasure. Not only did he listen to our wants but incorporated them into our design, often with multiple redesigns. He understood where we wanted to go on design and was able to add bits that reflected our desires while keeping a working sensible home. His vast experience (40+ years) as an architect allowed him to design a tight, energy efficient home. We have a young family, so designing a home for now and the future was very important to us. His ability to understand these usability elements and then blend in the style we wanted was critical. Mr. Lawrie walked us through the pros and cons of each part and gave us the choice. Additionally, his practical knowledge helped us to decide where to allocate more money for extra benefit as well as where we could save money with little or no change in performance or design. Overall our experience was extremely positive and we wholeheartedly recommend him. We would hope that everyone would have as an enjoyable experience with their architect as we did with Mr. Lawrie.”

“John Batman helped me design my house and was the contractor in 2002. He was very helpful all through the process. He listened carefully to what I wanted and made good suggestions. The house was built on time and on budget and with excellent materials that are holding up beautifully over time. The crew was well managed and cleaned the site each day. He even answers question to this day. And helps me find workmen for projects. I was, and am, completely satisfied with my choice to use John Batman to build my home.”
