Bench is a carefully curated home decor, gift, and furnishings store nestled in Kensington, San Diego. We are proud to offer a range of local San Diego handmade art, candles, jewelry, and seasonal items. Our buyer and owner Helen seeks out unique pieces you won’t find in other stores. Helen grew up in the great state of Alabama. From her very first job in retail, Helen discovered she had a knack for retail that was grounded in a passion for matching each customer with an item that perfectly meets their needs. This fervor brought her to study fashion merchandising and design at Auburn University. After graduating, she found success working with leading retailer, Oakley. Helen has lived in Kensington, a small, safe, close-knit community, for twelve years. She realized there was the lack of home furnishing stores in the immediate area, and felt Kensington needed a unique store filled with items that inspire. “I curate Bench by several methods. I trust my feeling on products I think will make our customers happy. I support local artists and artisans. I source from companies who are outside the US and are unique to our area.
