“Our company hired Hannah to help with a full remodel of a home that was built in 1959. It had never been updated. The layout was typical for the time it was built with low ceilings and lots of small rooms. The home also had been added onto and the flow was very unappealing. The entire home was reimagined. Hannah worked tirelessly on the blueprints to make sure the floorplan flowed and every available space was utilized. The walls in the main portion of the house were removed and the ceiling raised. The main bedroom and bathroom were enlarged and the space was reconfigured to add a large walk-in closet. The original hardwood was under the carpeting and was refinished. Removing walls and raising the ceiling made once closed in multiple dark rooms into one large stunning room with soaring ceilings and a wood beam. A separate laundry area and sunroom were incorporated into the main house which gave the home added square feet under heat and air. The finishes and features Hannah chose made the house into a gorgeous, inviting space that wowed all who toured it. Hannah was spot on with her design suggestions and kept to the deadlines. “I have used Hazel Tree twice, once to redecorate an office in time for a holiday showing, and again when restoring my 1921 Arts and Crafts bungalow, into which I was moving. In both cases, Karen was professional, knowledgeable and easy to work with. In the case of the office, because of a tight timeline, Karen, her husband and another person painted it over a weekend so it would be ready for curtains in time. At no time was there any question about terms or "hidden" fees. Her assistance included help in choosing wall colors, reupholstery, design for the tile floor for an enclosed porch/sun room, curtains (measured and made), window blinds, carpeting and kitchen flooring. Her subcontractors are excellent at their craft, no matter what it was. She even made a grapevine Christmas tree with chandelier teardrops hanging in the center just because she wanted to. I did buy one piece of furniture, a converted radio cabinet in which I store paper and other office items. It remains one of my favorite pieces. One of the reasons I like working with Karen/Hazel Tree is that she tries, wherever possible, to use repurposed furniture, environmentally friendly materials and includes sustainable practices in her work. I would not hesitate to use Hazel Tree again should I need interior decorating services, and I would not hesitate to recommend the firm to anyone who needs quality design at very reasonable prices.”

“I have admired this firm for 25 years of my life. Mary Beth helped me in my 3 story tudor. I came from a very simple one story ranch . When I got married our second home was a very strong personality home with rich wood beams and gorgeous wood work (We discovered later it was stained poplar wood with orange shellac). Inside were beautiful light fixtures . When turned off they were a teal blue color. When turned on they were a beautiful orange color. After many lone hours sitting in my tall staircase; I gort Mary Beth Hughes. In my living room she selected floor lenghth pleated draw curtains in 3 wide windows treated as one and 2 single, separate windows in an English floral pattern with a somewhat navy background with peach and orangish peonies. Flanking a gray stone fireplace are two peach love seats. Now here is the talent of Mary Beth Hughes. I still have the same curtains and the same loveseats. Why? Because she used TIMELESS patterns and materials. Today stripped hardwood floors compliment them . Many perofessionals have said the curtains would cost me at least $30.000 dollars if I have them made today. Off this living room is a 6 window study. It came with one and a half banded metal blinds. I remember asking her, " What about these blinds?'. She said ,"Keep them. You can't do any better." The blinds are still present and goes lovely in the study. For over 25 years I thought what a wise and brilliant interior decorator Mary Beth Hughes is in Wheeling. I want to share her with Houzz readers.”

“Tracey is a true professional. She's very talented and definitely has an eye for beautiful things. In a few minutes, Tracey was already giving us ideas and what amazing ideas she had. She painted our bedroom and hung a professional art railing system and every detail was perfect. Her choice of rug for our office was exactly what we wanted. The little accents that she suggested made our place look more homey and warm. We are working on a bathroom project with Tracey now and can't wait to see how that's going to turn out.
