Alexis Burris took my home from drab to dramatic with her choices of color, materials, furniture and style. She will provide you with options that will make your home a distinctive but very comfortable
place to live.

Met with Alexis and had high hopes at first.
I was on a tight time schedule, and had to wait to meet with her due to her tight schedule. She cancelled our first meeting the day of the appointment due to health issues, which is not a problem.
She rescheduled to meet with me a week later again. I was nervous about delaying more, but had no choice. On the morning of my next appointment she cancelled my appointment again, saying she had another emergency. In both cases, I took time off work to meet with her, and was unable to cancel my time off because she didn't let me know until the same day.
I understand cancelling once, especially for medical reasons, but given that she cancelled so late the first time, and I had to wait a week before meeting, I think it would be professional to keep our appointment or at least ask me if something else could be arranged. She just cancelled, saying something more important than I was had come up.
Additionally, I found other communication with her a bit troubling, because she would discuss one thing with me, and the next time we talked she would have changed directions. When I asked about it, she seemed not to remember our initial discussion.
I paid a retainer to work with her, and got ABSOLUTELY nothing for the money. Had to hire a new designer three weeks later, in an even worse position for time, and lost all the time and money. The money I spent with her, and my two half days off work were a complete waste. I can not recommend.

I chose Alexis Burris Designs to help me with the design and execution of a
major remodel on my mid-century modern house, on the basis of a
recommendation of a realtor friend. After initially meeting Alexis and discussing
her design philosophy, I knew that we would work well together. Alexis was
interested in hearing about my individual style, the important design elements in
my home that I wished to retain, and those features which I wanted to update or
improve upon. Her extensive background in architectural design was very helpful
in our creating a coherent theme in the redesign and refurbishing of a 50 year-old
home, which had undergone several prior remodels.
Alexis’ eye for detail, and intuitive sense of what ‘works’ well was invaluable in
furnishing my home as well. I greatly relied on Alexis’ contacts and knowledge in
the home furnishings business to get the home I wanted, within a budget I could
afford. Without question, the money I spent having Alexis Burris Designs consult
on my remodel has been worthwhile. I now have a home I love to come home to,
and that will have enduring value and tasteful style for years to come.

Alexis provided excellent service through the entire scope of our design project of our home remodel. She listens and is responsive to the details required and stayed engaged throughout the process. Her creativity made the decision process exciting and when faced with challenges she maintained an upbeat and inspiring enthusiasm. I continue to recommend Alexis to my best friends and collegues!

We retained Alexis Burris for our kitchen remodel and could not have been happier with our choice! Her experience and talent in all aspects of design, including architectural, helped us in making the best decisions without adding to the bottom line. In every step, Alexis was focused on achieving the result we wanted while figuring out how to keep it cost effective. She was incredibly thorough and her attention to detail is incredible. The end result - a gorgeous, highly functional kitchen and within our budget!
As Realtors, we will always refer Alexis Burris to our clients as we know she
will listen to their needs and never disappoint.

Looks at personnel life style and comfort zone. Great problem solving. Provides detailed drawings and project schedule to contractor and subs.
Conscientious about design vs. budget and client desires. Designs every room from functioning kitchen /bath/living space/ outside to interiors .
Works on new or remodels. Understands lighting , furniture style and art placement. Great colorist . All of these things were performed in a 3,800 square foot primary home remodel. Changing a plain home into a beautiful contemporary Craftsman design.

Alexis Burris is the best. We first hired her for a kitchen remodel around 1990 when I saw her kitchen design in a San Diego magazine. She's an absolute expert in selecting granite, stone, and tile as well as using even the smallest features and details that update the design and add class. Since then, she has helped us with whole house and bath remodeling, and creating customized furniture. Given her artistic talent, she has even helped design gardens at two houses by drawing artistic renderings of placement for boulders, mounds, plants and trees. Alexis conceptualizes the client's ideas, whatever they are. She can bring client's differing viewpoints together. I have seen her design anywhere from modern to traditional interiors and, monochromatic to rich color schemes. My projects have been relatively modest, but I have also toured Rancho Sante Fe houses and golf course facilities that she has designed and planned in conjuction with architects and construction managers. Working with Alexis is always cost effective, because she is mindful of selecting material, color and design that I won't have second thoughts about later. Above all, Alexis always takes her design to a level that makes the project memorable.

Alexis Burris is a dream to work with.
Matter of fact I have such confidence in her, that I would leave my home in her hands, take and trip and come back when she has finished decorating it!
She gets from the client what they would like and creates those desires for them.
Her creativity is boundless.
When she did my first house, I was on a very limited budget yet she created the sophisticated look I wanted in very clever ways. I again called her for her expertise a few years later and flew her out to the east coast after I had moved into another house. When other decorators said "your house is dark, cut down the trees"....she knew exactly what was needed and saved our precious trees.
I recommend Alexis Burris Designs to anyone who wants a clever, and extremely talented designer.

1. Granite/stone countertop to replace existing tile counters
2. Tile flooring for the house
3. New tile for the fireplace surround
The next day 9/1 I went to 2 pre-fab granite countertop & tile providers
1. I selected a stone top and supplier based on your requests
2. I selected several beautiful options for your floor tile
3. I coordinated with supplier to be sure we had good installers available for your job.
4. The $300.00 retainer had been spent & I was owed $65.00
5. I set up a meeting for you, myself & the granite/tile supplier for 9/5 as that was the date that worked for you.
The night before our scheduled meeting 9/4 was admitted to Alvarado emergency room & spent 7 hours there. My roommate & I called you to tell you I could not attend.
You went to the meeting & per you & supplier you were very happy with the selections.
Two days later I was readmitted to the emergency room at 7:00pm and spent over 12 hours there. I nearly died and the next week you fired me.
I am a bit more than shocked at your descriptions of my work. It's curious you did not mention that I offered to complete the job at no additional cost as my health had created a week's delay.
NOTE: Per your request all meetings had been set up on your lunch hour.
The one piece of work I did not complete was to select tile for your fireplace.
Best of luck in your future endeavors,
Alexis Burris
