Ask Kent and Co. and Mr. Brasloff were absolutely top-notch in their intuitiveness and attention to detail. The assignment was to redecorate a three bedroom apartment top to bottom. I live four hours away from Manhattan so Mr. Brasloff came for a week and absolutely transformed my home using a combination of new furniture pieces, existing sentimental objects, and well-placed accessories. There were no major overhauls such as wallpapering or painting involved, yet the look of the interiors changed dramatically - and made the space a beloved sanctuary and not just an apartment.

My husband and I did a lot of self-directed remodeling over the years while we were working. In fact we added onto, or made sizable changes 4 times in 35 years. As antique dealers we constantly rotated pieces of furniture in and out of our home. We ran an upholstery business as well, and tried to make good selections that we would live with for a long time. In more recent years, we traveled extensively, collecting beautiful art and objects along the way. At the point of retirement, we realized we had a number of unfinished projects, partially completed rooms, tons of brick-a-brack and collections and no where to get any actual work, like bill-paying, done! Nothing was really organized. Kent and his staff were terrific, initially working from photos we emailed to him. He and his assistant flew out several times to help us curate the best of what we had, organize it and eliminate what wasn't important. He worked well with local contractors and cabinet makers, making it fun and exciting for all involved. He always had a great idea or solution! Among other things, his firm designed built-ins for our bedroom, quadrupling our storage. He designed what he called "a command center" for our den that incorporated books, collections, storage, computer, printer, fax and TV; and it gave us a dedicated place to work as opposed to a card table! He chose lots of bright colors to spruce up and reupholster our furniture, while being respectful of tradition too. I would not have ordinarily made those choices, but now I'm delighted we accepted his suggestions! The whole house is fresh and bright and full of surprises because of how he used what was here. Any extras we needed were mostly bought locally (Tuesday Morning, Pier One, Home Goods), although we did order the breakfast room furniture and the dining room chairs from New York. We love every room and don't know where to sit first. Our friends love coming here because it's both cheery and elegant, and not like anyone else's home, which is what we wanted. My husband and I are so glad we did this...and that we didn't wait until it was too late in our golden years to enjoy it. We cannot say enough good about Kent and the beautiful home he created. We love being here!!
