I could swear that I read in a Houzz post recently that you can attach headboards to the wall using ring screws and hooks. Screw them into studs!

You don't really need to unless it is exceptionally higher than the mattress. Remember, the bed frame is bolted to the legs of the headboard. If you push the headboard up to the wall, then the weight of the mattress will hold everything in place. Make sense?
If you must bolt, I would imagine a molly bolt and screw eyes at either side would do the trick.

You're welcome. I am working on more photos including a few more of that room for a new page of my website. In about 10 days, if you are interested, go to TDGPortfolio.com. It's not up yet. Thanks for your kind words.

Hi,
I didn't need to bolt this headboard to the wall. Instead, the feet of the headboard are bolted to the bed frame which is a regular metal frame. Then, because it is up against a wall and the mattress is in front of it, there is little room for it to lean. If the headboard was much higher, then it would probably be necessary to bolt it.
Thanks for asking!

Yes, custom rods are the way to go. When you use the expandable variety, one side will be thinner than the other. Also, they tend to bow because they are not as well made. These were custom from my wrought iron workroom. If I can help, just give me a call and we'll get them ordered for you. Are you local to LA? Debbie Talianko
