Overwintering Clematis in the house?

Last year, I left all of my clematis in pots on the roofdeck and . . . they died. I did get one seedling in spring, but that's about it.

I now have another ten clematis or so on the deck, and I'm wondering whether I could at least overwinter my favorite one (Bee's Jubilee) in the house over in winter. Is this a good idea or a bad idea?

I'm already brought in my four favorite miniature roses, but my past experience with powdery mildew and spider mites on indoor roses tells me that I'll be lucky to get one to survive to spring.

To answer the obvious question, our building has no room to plant vines without having them grow onto someone else's fence. There might be limited space for a pot in a garage, but it's very unlikely at the moment. Based on last year's experience, the clematis that don't come inside are goners.

Thanks.
