Joey, what zone do you live in? I planted a Satsuma about 3 years ago and it looks like a 3 month old bonsai looking tree right now,lol...its been severely stunted with Citrus Leaf Miners!! I'm going to be very proactive this year and treat it and fertilize more often to get it healthy...maybe next year I might actually taste the fruits!!

Pug, it was all my Dad... he planted it in the sandy back yard in 1980. All four of the citrus trees in my parents' back yard have declined in the last two years including, sadly, the satsuma. I believe them to have Citrus Greening Disease. They had a Meyers Lemon, a grapefruit, a navel orange, and the satsuma. All four were planted in 1980. We cut down the navel this past October as it was 90% dead. What a sad day. My parents are moving next month and someone else will get these lovely trees and hopefully they can get them to survive. I have read about your troubles with leaf miners... all of these things are frustrating when for years and years, we did nothing except fertilize!

Thanks Carol...these Citrus leaf miners have been a huge problem for me. I know its SO scary the amount of trees that are slowing declining in FL (and now other states as well) due to Citrus Greening. I know I'm on borrowed time and if I eventually have to deal with it, I won't be replacing my Citrus until they are able to graft them to rootstocks that are immune to this disease or find a cure...Very sad to see very productive trees 20-30+ years old decline. I'm SO sorry that your parent's beautiful Satsuma along with the other Citrus succumb to disease...at least you were able to enjoy the fruits for over 30 years, that's impressive!!

I hope to one day taste some fruits off my tree before any disease gets hold of it...
