leaf cuttings from variegated snake plants will yield all green pups. The only way to produce more variegated plants is to divide the mother plant. Sorry.......

It is not too commonplace but on the other hand not too rare for offshoots, aka "pups", to lose the variegation of the mother plant.

Usually on variegated plants every leaf could be different. Leaf cuttings from them forget it. Most will revert. If you take a offset from the mother plant it is wise to leave at least 2 inches of the rhizome. NOrma

Thanks for the info. Didn't realize new shoots could be different, assumed they would all have the yellow edges.

This is not a leaf cutting, it's a new shoot from the mother plant. Don't know where that idea came from.

The big question here is it from the roots of the mother plant or leaf cuttings? Pictures are always the biggest help.

I had gotten this quite big stem with roots , but now this stem has got 3 pups on it, which are touching soil. I think they have started rooting , should I allow them rooting ? , Also new shoots have very thin green strips

Ishan, I don't think your pups are from a stem cutting (leaf cutting). Could be what's left of a old growing node or rosette that died back. The yellow will darken up with time. Everything appears good. Some new leaves will develop with much more yellow in time.

In the above 15 year old post. Author never showed pictures and wasn't very clear where the pups were coming up from.

My yellow edged snake plant off shoots are all green. After a year the edges still did not turn yellow. Not a problem, I like the variations.

To my surprise. I was rewarded with a bloom this year.
