Wall color for my kitchen

I am refacing my kitchen. Right now it's all white, cabinets and walls painted the same white color. It will be honey maple (as shown in the attached picture). We are keeping existing countertop, which is dark grey, and backsplash (another picture attached, though it's an approximation - not our actual countertop). Floors will be a lighter color maple, very neutral (similar to what we have now).

I am debating going with greys for the walls. I have chair rail, so would like to do two-tone (light on top, darker on the bottom). All trim (chair rail, baseboard and crown moldings) will be white. I haven't really seen a cool color walls/warm color cabinets combo, and am wondering whether it'd be too strange. I like greys, I think they look elegant, but every grey-painted kitchen I've seen has white cabinets. Should I do it, or go with some neutral warm option?
