Wallpaper for a small, kind of cluttered room?

I never thought I would want wallpaper, but I am seriously entertaining the idea for our master bedroom. It's a small bedroom, and I'm thinking of doing it for an "accent wall". The accent wall is the wall opposite where you're standing when entering the room, it has the only bedroom window, and our queen size bed is under the window - so functionally it already is an accent wall. There isn't really room for anything on the wall above our bed. The room feels crowded, we have two highboy dressers, a filing cabinet, a wall-length mirrored closet, and an exercise bike.

What do you think, is adding a fun wallpaper to the window/headboard wall a crazy idea, would it make the room feel MORE cluttered than it already is? Or would it draw away from the clutter?

EDIT: The layout of this room reminds me of our room, but MUCH smaller. Our bed is similar (low headboard, platform, attached side tables), but there is basically about 2 1/2' - 3' between the bed/closet, about the same between the foot of the bed and our highboys, and then a little bit more on the other side of the bed (thus fits the exercise bike). When you enter the bedroom, you are facing the left of the window, the left half of the bed, and directly facing the exercise bike)

IMHO, wallpaper would add to the feeling of clutter. Can you move out anything? Can you put one of the highboys in another room? (btw, when you say "highboy," I see a piece of furniture like the one linked below)

Can you put the filing cabinet somewhere else? In a prior house, a decorator-friend had a circular top cut for my filing cabinet and put a skirt on it. If you did that, could the filing cabinet be moved to a guest room or used as an end table in the living room?

I certainly think you can do a wallpaper in a small room and have it enhance the room rather than make it smaller. That being said. it's advisable to paint the ceiling the same paint as the other three walls to create as spacier look. My only concern would be the window which would need window treatment which would then cut up the wall visually so you'd have woodwork trim, wallpaper, a window treatment and possible shade like item to block out light. Those are the items that will cut in to the paper and create a chopped up look. But, if you can find fabric to match the wallpaper then you're good to go. I've included a site with 84 designer bedrooms and quite a few have wallpaper. Check them out and you might get a feel for one that you could incorporate a similar type in to your room. Whatever you do, I'm sure will be lovely. Keep us posted please on how it's coming along. Good luck.

It depends on the wallpaper tone vs. the tone of the contents of the room.
This wallpaper is definitely patterned, but the rooms end up being pretty monochromatic.

Unfortunately I can't move out anything ... maybe the exercise bike but then it would be in the living room, which doesn't really make me any happier b/c that room is also crowded.

The highboys are just tall dressers, 8-drawer, in a teak-ish color that coordinates (not a matched set) with our bed, all in the danish modern/scandinavianish design. DH and I each needed a dresser and we don't have room for the typical long styles. Our house is pretty small for today's standards, and I am not a very good minimalist (though I'd like to be LOL).

Love looking at all the room ideas!

One of my goals for 2014 is to finish decorating and paint (and/or wallpaper) our master bedroom! We've only lived here 12 years and not ever painted in here - semigloss white isn't really that great ;-)
