One defective hardwired led under the cabinet puck light

One defective hardwired under the cabinet led puck light. We have 5 puck lights controlled by one switch. Only one is not working. It is not the light bulb. We changed the bulb 3 times. For each puck light there is a normal electrical outlet in the cabinet above. No wires or cord are visible inside the cabinets. Underneath the cabinet only about 1 in. of cord is visible between the puck light and where goes in to the wall. It actually goes thru the piece of wood that is the back of the cabinet (extends about 1 inch below bottom of cabinet) then into the wall. How do I go about replacing this puck light. I already have a replacement puck light to install, but I am not sure how to install it.

Please send a photo. Are the puck lights 110 volts or low voltage?

This sounds like a non-code-compliant DIY installation. The NEC doesn't permit portable cordage (as in cord-and-plug) to be used inside the building structure. Might be better to tear it all out and start over.

David, Can you use portable cordage for low voltage wiring?

Probably. However, I don't know much about code requirements, if any, for low voltage wiring.

The OP says, "For each puck light there is a normal electrical outlet in the cabinet
above. No wires or cord are visible inside the cabinets." That would suggest that the receptacle is being used as a junction box.

Now that I re-read the post, when he said "about 1 in. of cord is visible between the puck light and where goes in to the wall," maybe by "cord" he actually meant NM cable. That would be OK, assuming the cable isn't exposed to potential damage.

It does strike me as odd for the installer to put receptacles inside the cabinets, though. Has anyone else seen that done?

Another thing seems odd about this post. If these are LED lights, how could the OP change the bulb?
