People have told me that young trees/shrubs are more vulnerable. I don't know why. So, my latest attempt at young trees/shrubs that are allegedly deer resistant is to put winter fencing around them while they are small. Good luck!

The first thing I learned is that deer don't know how to read, so they taste everything, whether the books say they like it or not. We once bought a lilac, which they are supposed to hate, brought it home, then came out and saw a deer in the bed of our truck taking a nibble.
If they don't eat it, in the fall the rutting deer are a risk as well.
My advise is to invest in cages. Buy resistant plants, but cage everything until it is hearty enough to withstand some tasting.
