The gray marble (?) on the surround is clashing with the wall color. If you don't intend to paint the room as part of your project you should replace it.

I like the idea of shiplap over the molding because you have a decorative ceiling. You don’t want it to be too busy…

Really the shiplap ship sailed long ago and IMO a really por choice for finish on that FP which seems to be in a very contemporary space and BTW should not have the TV there at all.Remove the unsuitable surround and do a nice large format porcealin til for that whole FP wall to the ceiling and nice thick wood mantel if you need one . I would just do the tile and a huge pice of art no matel

I’d first make a decision on the fireplace itself and then complement that look. Pour through pictures for help.

I think you should change the fireplace and mantle to be wider and lower and then put tv back. The tv is too wide for the fireplace and it looks off balance.

Although shiplap can look pretty, it’s actually starting to be dated. I’d recommend a stone facade or a simple framing where there is less risk of becoming tired of it, and it is more timeless.
