The hall bath for this client started out a little dated with its 1970’s color scheme and general wear and tear, but check out the transformation!
The floor is really the focal point here, it kind of works the same way wallpaper would, but -- it’s on the floor. I love this graphic tile, patterned after Moroccan encaustic, or cement tile, but this one is actually porcelain at a very affordable price point and much easier to install than cement tile.
Once we had homeowner buy-in on the floor choice, the rest of the space came together pretty easily – we are calling it “transitional, Moroccan, industrial.” Key elements are the traditional vanity, Moroccan shaped mirrors and flooring, and plumbing fixtures, coupled with industrial choices -- glass block window, a counter top that looks like cement but that is actually very functional Corian, sliding glass shower door, and simple glass light fixtures.
The final space is bright, functional and stylish. Quite a transformation, don’t you think?

This master bath emanates elegance and tranquility through the use of a soft color palette, vintage fixtures, and natural light. The vintage claw foot freestanding tub and the Roman tub filler provide a retro twist, and the decorative claw feet on the tub add character to the room while still remaining understated. Twin pedestal sinks add dramatic interest and are flanked by tall, beaded inset cabinets which maximize storage and add architectural dimension to the space. Natural light illuminates the room's unique elements as it saturates the space through the large skylight and the window bank. The frameless glass shower enclosure furthers the open feel of the room, and showcases the shower's white subway tile and chrome fixtures. The white subway tile set in running bond format provides the shower with a clean and bright feel, and the wainscot paneling throughout the space completes the vintage inspired look. A custom alcove in the shower adds storage, and white Carrara marble jambs were used to finish the ledges of the shower. The white elements in the room create a bold contrast against the random width, hand-scraped, red oak flooring which features exposed rose head nails and adds richness to the space.
Sans Soucie Art Glass
Desert Allure Custom Glass Shower Enclosure .... Shower in Illuminated Art! .... These stunning etched glass shower enclosures are hand-crafted, sandblast frosted and 3D carved work of art glass. Available any size, all custom shower glass is made to order and ships worldwide at reasonable prices. Sans Soucie creates designs for frameless glass shower doors and shower glass enclosures thru sandblasting, done different ways, creating different effects for different levels of privacy and price. Shower glass is always tempered and is usually 1/2" thick, or 3/8" depending on the size and shower configuration. Created in limitless configurations, from a simple shower door to a multi-panel enclosure with custom chiseled edges! Edges can be straight polished, or can feature one of Sans Soucie's signature design custom hand chiseled edges. Across the top, of even where the door meets the panel next to it, custom chiseling definitely takes the custom look to another level. Whether we etch or deep carve, the glass, everything is done by sandblasting, and the sandblasted surface will be on the exterior surface of the glass, putting the smooth glass surface to the inside, which then can be "squeegeed" after showering. Sans Soucie designs are sandblasted different ways which create not only different effects but different levels in price. The "same design, done different" - with no limit to design, there's something for every decor, regardless of style.

Glass House:
The design objective was to build a house for my wife and three kids, looking forward in terms of how people live today. To experiment with transparency and reflectivity, removing borders and edges from outside to inside the house, and to really depict “flowing and endless space”. To construct a house that is smart and efficient in terms of construction and energy, both in terms of the building and the user. To tell a story of how the house is built in terms of the constructability, structure and enclosure, with the nod to Japanese wood construction in the method in which the concrete beams support the steel beams; and in terms of how the entire house is enveloped in glass as if it was poured over the bones to make it skin tight. To engineer the house to be a smart house that not only looks modern, but acts modern; every aspect of user control is simplified to a digital touch button, whether lights, shades/blinds, HVAC, communication/audio/video, or security. To develop a planning module based on a 16 foot square room size and a 8 foot wide connector called an interstitial space for hallways, bathrooms, stairs and mechanical, which keeps the rooms pure and uncluttered. The base of the interstitial spaces also become skylights for the basement gallery.
This house is all about flexibility; the family room, was a nursery when the kids were infants, is a craft and media room now, and will be a family room when the time is right. Our rooms are all based on a 16’x16’ (4.8mx4.8m) module, so a bedroom, a kitchen, and a dining room are the same size and functions can easily change; only the furniture and the attitude needs to change.
The house is 5,500 SF (550 SM)of livable space, plus garage and basement gallery for a total of 8200 SF (820 SM). The mathematical grid of the house in the x, y and z axis also extends into the layout of the trees and hardscapes, all centered on a suburban one-acre lot.

Aeris Home
My client decided to sell his house. Fantastic location, best schools in the area, minutes away from the ocean... All that was missing were signs of life and updated finishes. We instantly agreed on whites & greys; a free standing tub, double vanity, and long-lasting / easy-maintenance tile. We now have a clean white space that can be molded into anyone's perfect bath. White canvas gives opportunity to add color and drama. I call this "Baltic White" because sky reflections and tint in the shower glass cast just enough blue to remind me of snowy winters in Scandinavia. To demonstrate character, I staged with black accessories, a tribal rug and added warmth via walnut tub shelf. Candles and salt rock ground the airy feel and leave us with a balanced space that is as welcoming as it is elegant.

This 88 square foot Montclair bath is the main bathroom for the family. The 6 drawer vanity, built from reclaimed Amish barnwood from Pennsylvania, is stepped back at the sides to allow for more room at the entrance. The floating shelves in the Towel Tower are also from reclaimed wood. The CaesarStone countertop is made from 24% recycled content (crushed glass and mirror). The vintage medicine cabinet was given a fresh coat of paint. The custom tile and marble recessed niche in the bathtub provides plenty of space for the family's stuff. Lighting was improved with the addition of a wet location recessed light in the tub and a pair of wall sconces. White subway tile, accents of muted glass mosaics, Carrara marble basketweave floor tile and the water/sky colored walls and ceiling all contribute to a cheerful and calm brightness. Photo: Wing Wong
