The design reveals previously unseen panoramic views of London’s famous skyline and increases the usable floor space and value by reconfiguring access arrangements. The resulting accommodation is divided into 4 suites, with separate bedrooms, bathrooms, walk-in wardrobes and changing spaces, study areas and children’s play space. There is also family kitchen and a large central hub space which is arranged to host both social gatherings of family and friend and more intimate family moments.
Blue Heron Signature Homes
Designed and built by Terramor Homes in Raleigh, NC. This open design concept was an exciting challenge. Kitchen, Family Room and Large Eat in Kitchen are entirely open to each other for family enjoyment. When we enjoy a large family gathering, we envisioned it to be while enjoying the view of the woods, greenway and river seen from the back of the home. Since most of our gatherings extend past single table seating spaces, we wanted to plan properly for spill over onto the huge screened porch that adjoins all of the rooms for extended seating that remains all-inclusive. The screened porch is accessible from the dining area, but more impressively, by a 16 foot wide sliding glass door across the back wall of the Family Room. When fully opened, an 8 foot wide opening is created- making a complete extension of our living and eating areas fully integrated.

A strong relationship between internal and external areas was sought for the main everyday living areas of the house, being the kitchen, meals area and dining room. Devices such as the highlight windows within these spaces allow a constant glimpse to the sky, the blurring of internal and external boundaries through the use of external materials within the house and the large openings making visual connections.
The stone walls used externally have also been used internally to the south wall of the meals area and the copper soffit lining to the upper terrace runs internally in the bulkhead and ceiling to the kitchen, meals and dining room thereby blurring the internal and external areas.
The ceilings within the dining room and kitchen / meals area are lined with timber battens. Along with providing warmth and detail to these spaces the timber battens also conceal acoustic insulation to assist with deadening the reverberant noise.
The design and usability of the upper terrace itself was pivotal to the success of the house. It is the external area of the upper terrace that connects to extend the internal areas with the boundary between the two being blurred. A balance was reached between solar access and protection from the rain while maintaining a non-restricted view to the sky from internal areas through the use of glass roofs and automated awnings.

This bespoke professional cook's kitchen features a custom copper and stainless steel La Cornue range cooker and extraction canopy, built to match the client's copper pans. Italian Black Basalt stone shelving lines the walls resting on Acero stone brackets, a detail repeated on bench seats in front of the windows between glazed crockery cabinets. The table was made in solid English oak with turned legs. The project’s special details include inset LED strip lighting rebated into the underside of the stone shelves, wired invisibly through the stone brackets. Read our article about The Regency Cook's Kitchen.

KBC Developments
Situated on a challenging sloped lot, an elegant and modern home was achieved with a focus on warm walnut, stainless steel, glass and concrete. Each floor, named Sand, Sea, Surf and Sky, is connected by a floating walnut staircase and an elevator concealed by walnut paneling in the entrance.
The home captures the expansive and serene views of the ocean, with spaces outdoors that incorporate water and fire elements. Ease of maintenance and efficiency was paramount in finishes and systems within the home. Accents of Swarovski crystals illuminate the corridor leading to the master suite and add sparkle to the lighting throughout.
A sleek and functional kitchen was achieved featuring black walnut and charcoal gloss millwork, also incorporating a concealed pantry and quartz surfaces. An impressive wine cooler displays bottles horizontally over steel and walnut, spanning from floor to ceiling.
Features were integrated that capture the fluid motion of a wave and can be seen in the flexible slate on the contoured fireplace, Modular Arts wall panels, and stainless steel accents. The foyer and outer decks also display this sense of movement.
At only 22 feet in width, and 4300 square feet of dramatic finishes, a four car garage that includes additional space for the client's motorcycle, the Wave House was a productive and rewarding collaboration between the client and KBC Developments.
