The Design Chapel
The focus as an interior designer was to make the tight spaces in the 2bhk look spacious and open by using an uniform colour palette that envelops the entire house. This room has been designed as a calming sanctuary where the couple can relax, watch netflix and chill after a long day of work.

For Model 2 we focused on a Contemporary Farmhouse style direction accenting the black and white specifications of the home. The furniture selections are a combination of rustic yet contemporary merging the best of old and new. Binding country elements with a contemporary spin, the décor blends clean lines, neutral palettes, layered textures and natural materials to create a timeless look that’s bursting with character. The overall look was completed with the use of accessories, art and rugs where we will introduce our color pallet of black, white, rustic orange and cognac leathers. Each space is designed to provide an elevated yet inviting and warming feel where potential buyers can picture themselves with their loved ones. Model 2 has spaces that we designated for kids and others were staged more adult oriented keeping the style cohesive throughout the home. Mixing rustic, traditional pieces with cleaner lines furniture and modern accents helped us strike the perfect balance of comfy and trendy Contemporary Farmhouse Style.

grayHAUS
This large high-end residential home set records in Yeronga for off-river land sales for blocks of land less than 1000m2 when sold in 2016 to rugby league legend Wayne Bennett. The beautiful home was meticulously designed by the team at grayHAUS to take in the Queensland weather all year round. Thoughtful positioning of louvred windows was the main focus to capture the breezes that came up the Brisbane River, creating a cross ventilation environment that varied little in temperatures minimising the need for air conditioning. The large open plan living, dining & kitchen provided the ultimate entertainment space as they all linked to the outdoor alfresco area that was picture framed by an above ground fully tiled swimming pool, which could be heated during the winter months for year-round use.
Other attributes to this house is a 3 car garage with store room, master retreat on the middle level with a private balcony, large butler’s pantry with separate appliances and fridge spaces for the master chef of the house, media room fitted with surround sound system, 3 large bedrooms with ensuite and bathroom on the upper level all linked to a teenagers retreat / multi-purpose room.
An electronic smart system was also installed to the house so themes could be set for lighting, while AC controls, intercom and alarm systems were also integrated into this system. This home was one of the first high end builds designed and built by the team at grayHAUS and it still proves to be a success by re-setting the benchmark for off-river property sales when sold recently in 2019.

This open plan handleless kitchen was designed for an architect, who drew the original plans for the layout as part of a contemporary new-build home project for him and his family. The new house has a very modern design with extensive use of glass throughout. The kitchen itself faces out to the garden with full-height panel doors with black surrounds that slide open entirely to bring the outside in during the summer months. To reflect the natural light, the Intuo kitchen furniture features polished glass door and drawer fronts in Lava and Fango colourways to complement the marble floor tiles that are also light-reflective.
We designed the kitchen to specification, with the main feature being a large T-shaped island in the 5.8m x 9m space. The concept behind the island’s shape was to have a full preparation and surface cooking space with the sink run behind it, while the length of the island would be used for dining and socialising, with bar stool seating in recesses on either side. Further soft-close drawers are on either side at the end. The raised Eternal Marfil worktop by Silestone is 80mm thick with square edging.
The preparation area is 3.2m wide and features a contrasting 20mm thick Eternal Marfil worktop with Shark’s nose edging to provide easy access to the stainless-steel recessed handle rails to the deep drawers at the front and sides of the island. At the centre is a Novy Panorama
PRO 90, with an integrated ventilation tower that rises when extraction is required and then retracts back into the hob’s surface when cooking has ended. For this reason, no overhead extraction was required for this kitchen. Directly beneath the hob are pull-out storage units and there are further deep drawers on either side for pans and plates.
To the left of the island are tall handleless glass-fronted cabinets within a 600mm recess, featuring a broom cupboard at one end and a Neff integrated fridge freezer at the other. A bank of Neff side-by-side cooking appliances make the central focus and include two single pyrolytic ovens, a combination microwave and an integrated coffee machine together with accessory drawers. Further storage cupboards are above and below each appliance.
The sink run is situated beneath a long rectangular picture window with a black metal surround. Directly above it is a run of glazed cabinets, all by Intuo, with black glass surrounds, with one double-height to the left of the window. The cabinets all store glassware and crockery and they are backlit to make a feature of them at night. Functional pull-out storage cupboards sit beneath the worktop, including pull-out bins, together with a 60cm integrated dishwasher on either side of the sink unit. An undermount single bowl and separate half bowl sink by Axixuno are all cladded in stone to match the pale walls and the tap is by Quooker.
The feature wall is painted in Caramel crunch by Dulux. The bar stools by Danetti were chosen by our client to complement this striking colour, and crockery was chosen to match. The pendant lights are taper by Franklite.

suzanne lawson design - interior design
Longboat Key is a beautiful island located just west of Sarasota and has long been a retreat for those seeking peace and tranquility. The concept for this space was to reflect that lifestyle. The Designer, Suzanne Lawson, focused on using a soft color palette, rectilinear forms and clean lines to create a restful setting. This foyer once had only a closet door at the end with no focal point. Suzanne opened it up and created an "art niche." Art was added along the hallway to draw one's eye back to that focal point and create interest. Color added to the walls enhanced what once was a drab, dull space.

The transformation of the bedroom was enhanced by replacing two small, portal windows with a large picture window that literally brings the surrounding forest into delightful, enchanting focus. From this vantage point the owners delight in watching a menagerie of wild animals and birds, and the forest responding to changing seasons and coastal weather. Built-in bookshelves pay gracious homage to the owner's large book collection

This is my clients sons bedroom which had these curtains but was lacking any focus elsewhere. We added the pictures which were in the dining room but felt much more appropriate in this space. We then added the bookshelves to clear the floor being too cluttered.

This casual living room has a cozy feel with an eclectic mix of furnishings and finishes. The swivel armchair and sofa with chaise are upholstered in neutral fabrics while the hand knotted area rug is the color focus in the room. Pillow fabrics and trims coordinate with the colors in the rug. The drapery panels are silk with tassle trim and the wall sconces are hand finished iron with beaded shades. The tea table is glass with an antique mirror shelf and a distressed gold finish. The paint color is Ralph Lauren English Tan. All of the items seen here are available at www.ladesignportfolio.com.

Colour blocking is a fantastic way to zone areas without taking up valuable floor space and we went for it in this gorgeous nursery.
The brief was for a contemporary, colourful nursery with Scandi vibes. As we all know Scandinavian design doesn’t always allow for bold colours so we focused on strong clean shapes and Scandinavian design references in the furniture.
The client didn’t want the room to be heavily gendered like so many nurseries so opting for a gorgeous deep teal and a stone coloured beige gives the perfect backdrop for layers of other colours to be added as the children grow.
The client originally wanted white to be the predominant colour in this room but to add the cosy feel we convinced them to go for a zoned corner. The beige stone colour paint continues up onto the ceiling to create a little colour pocket at one end of the room. This is a nice upgrade on a ‘feature wall’.
We love being sent pictures of the children enjoying the space from the client.

This project features a custom mosaic backsplash using tumbled stone. The inspiration came from the client's visit to Bali. The two central images are from the client's own photographs taken there. We worked with the client to develop a cohesive and vibrant look to this contemporary kitchen. It has become the focus connecting the open-plan living, dining and kitchen space.
