For Clive Pohl and the PRP team, We threw you a curve ball and you hit a home run. After 22 moves with our work over 36 years, we returned to our hometown and found the house that fits our future needs, but it needs a little work. We wanted to invest in this home by using the right people to help. After an internet investigation we met with Clive to discuss his approach to adapting our home and making the right changes sooner than later. He also explained the process in detail which has helped us make our initial budget plans. The first step was to paint the main sections of our home before a large family visit. The timeline for picking colors and design was short and even got shorter and Clive was there to meet our timelines and provided a unique approach. We love the colors selected and can see the way they blend. After a few weeks we feel the dynamics and comfort of the color selection and he has set the stage for future renovation and modification phases. This summer we are going to pause and enjoy the pool and get the house in order (still a few boxes to unpack) but our next step is to start working again with Clive and the PRP team to pick the right direction for updates and changes. My husband and I hired Krisia Rosa of Pohl Rosa Pohl for two major home renovations, and we are extremely pleased with the results. Our first project began in fall of 2013 and was completed the following summer. The house was in poor shape in a nice neighborhood, but we had no idea what we wanted. Ms. Rosa was patient and careful to explain her thoughts and our choices during the entire process, and her design restored our home to a beautiful new life. Watching her attention to the overall "feel" of the house down to the smallest detail seemed like art in action. We were so pleased that when we moved, we hired Ms. Rosa to renovate a second house in March through November 2016. We asked her to try to replicate the style of the first house, which she did so well that we like it even more than the first house. Ms. Rosa has also been invaluable in helping us decorate our home in keeping with the mood and style. She is a delight to work with, and I recommend Krisia Rosa highly, without reservation.

After receiving a glowing recommendation of Pohl Rosa Pohl from a close friend, we engaged Krisia Rosa to completely redesign our kitchen, including a small breakfast room addition, two bathrooms and a deck. We just wrapped-up the remodeling and we could not be happier with the results. Krisia’s designs were not only beautiful but also were very functional and have significantly improved our family’s usage of the redesigned spaces. What we loved about the design is that Krisia carefully listened to our goals for the project and incorporated those into a design that spoke not only to us but also to the house and its surroundings. It was a collaborative process and we truly enjoyed working with Krisia and her partners at Pohl Rosa Pohl. In fact, we’ve already hired Krisia for our next project.

Contracted with PRP to design/architect a custom home. Very professional, creative and willing to collaborate with us and the builder. Extremely pleased with process and final result. PRP developed design options based on our criteria and walked us through pros and cons of each. Our home is truly unique and perfectly fits our lifestyle. PRP exceeded our expectations and we love our new home.

We have now worked with PRP 3 times. The first time was for a small reconfiguration and renovation of a master bath in a 1920's house. The collaboration was very successful: an imaginative approach to a difficult space, done within very tight budget constraints. The second time was the opposite sort of job: a complete build out, starting with a concrete slab with only the main plumbing and electric in place, the space was transformed into a very modern, 3 bedroom/3 bath home. The collaboration (though obviously much more extensive) was at heart the same: thorough, timely, creative yet practical. As a client with strong opinions I appreciate working with somebody who will listen and understand the essence of what I am going for- but as a customer I also appreciate that they know when and how to push back and point out either non-obvious problems, or offer better ways to get to the end result. That is, after all, the point of working with professionals! The third time is a renovation of a beach house, a different challenge again, Here the job was to respect the look and feel of a house that is home base for a large extended family, while making it more functional. The job included pushing out a wall to expand the kitchen, adding a bath and an elevator. For an architect these are straightforward tasks- but doing it so that the new is seamlessly integrated with the old requires understanding both the spaces that aren't changing and how the house is used. Different as they were, these three projects have in common the experience of working with Krisia Rosa, backed by the PRP team (they call on each other for specific expertise as well as creative counsel). She is unfailingly pleasant to work with, excellent at listening to hear what you are really looking for, communications are prompt and responsive, and there is superb attention to detail. Calm and steady when something doesn't go to plan (you weren't thinking that we got through these 3 projects without any hiccups, were you?! the building projects with 0 hiccups are kept in the same place as the unicorns), she is a resourceful problem-solver. The result, every time, has been spaces that we really love and that *work* for us. Note: the date & budget for the project below is for the middle project, which was the biggest. The first project was in 2000, and the third is just being completed now.

Graham Pohl planned the redesign of our kitchen and laundry room, which make up the front part of our 1950s ranch-style house. We could not be more pleased with the result. I wanted the kitchen to be as open as possible, since it is the space where all our parties begin, with our guests congregating for drinks until we gently steer them on to the other rooms of the house. I knew that there was no good place for the refrigerator, which used to take up a whole corner of the kitchen. I wanted to move it into our laundry room, which used to be separated from the kitchen by a wall, but I couldn't figure out how to keep it easily accessible to the stove and the prep area. Graham’s design created an opening between the kitchen and laundry room where our stove used to be, and placed the refrigerator right behind that opening, which makes it completely accessible from the kitchen without actually occupying space in it or being visible to visitors. The stove is now built into a good-sized work island in the middle of the kitchen, allowing my husband, the main cook in our family, to face our visitors while he works, instead of having his back turned to them as in the old kitchen. When our project was completed, it became immediately clear that this design worked beautifully. The space in the kitchen is open and airy, and it is comfortable to work in it since all appliances and countertops are grouped together and separated from the “entertainment” part of the room by the island. The laundry room became a pantry, while still accommodating the washer and dryer . There is an extra sink, some extra counter space, and all our dry groceries are stored on a set of handsome open wood shelves that Graham designed, thus eliminating the need for upper cabinets in the kitchen itself. My husband can chop vegetables in the kitchen while I use the counter space in the pantry to make a cake or pie. An assistant in the firm helped me with the choice of colors for the kitchen and pantry, which are a subtle combination of muted grays, oranges, and browns, with more grey in the kitchen and more orange in the pantry. The kitchen cabinets are white. Graham also designed a kidney-shaped marble bar top that rises above one end of the kitchen island and is mounted on it with a rounded steel plate and large decorative screws. All our guests admire the light, the openness and the colors in our kitchen, but those who truly appreciate good design also comment on the design of the bar, which serves to separate them from our workspace while enabling us to enjoy their company. My husband can even hide his spice containers under the projecting edge of the marble top. It was a pleasure to work with Graham. We greatly appreciated the fact that he brought a fine sense of the use of space and modern design concepts to this project, while respecting the integrity of our modest house, which we love.

My wife and I had an outdoor deck on the back of our house that we rarely used because of problems with mosquitoes, so we decided to tear it out and make the space into a four season sun room. We also added a grill island just off the kitchen, near an existing stone patio area. We didn't want a cookie cutter design, so we decided to get an architect involved, and chose Pohl Rosa Phol after reviewing their portfolio and talking with people who had used them in the past. Selecting them was the smartest move we made in the whole process. Grahm Pohl listened to us and came up with an exceptional design that played wonderfully off of our existing house and our personal tastes. He also developed detailed plans that guided the entire construction process, so once the general contractor was hired, whenever a question arose about materials or how the additions should look, all we had to do was refer to the drawings, which really kept any contractor disputes to a bare minimum. Graham was also personally available during the construction process to answer questions when they arose. And best of all, the results were just super, stylish and beautifully detailed.

Pohl Rosa Pohl has helped us transform a funky,conglomerate dysfunctional house into the most exciting and stimulating home we will ever live in. changes to floor plans have made total sense while creating flow and connections beyond what we ever imagined. we are thoroughly pleased with our decisions and investment.
