“We have hired Cam for three different carpentry jobs in the last two years: designing and building built-in cabinets and a window seat in our family room, remodeling our laundry/mud room, and installing a new front door with custom woodwork. “Kent did a wonderful job replacing the railings on my Victorian house, front and back stairs. (He did the carpentry and I did the painting.) The front porch curves and he bent the rails to match the curvature. He provided an accurate estimate of the cost, met the schedule and came back promptly to make an adjustment. Kent is very pleasant to work with, especially for a single woman. I have recommended him to friends.”

“I purchased some barn wood for the sides of my bar and slab for the top. Turned out great. I also bought a slab with a hole in the center of the large end and made a coffee table out of it. Love it, turned out great. It's in my finished basement with an American Flag that I purchased from 2nd chance. It's surprising the cost of some of this reclaimed wood but when you purchase reclaimed wood it's worth the price. Clean it up and it looks great when it's finished.”

“Charles Shiver of Chelsea Woodworking has completed a number of projects for us and worked on a number homes in our neighborhood. For us, his work he has spanned a broad range of projects: from minor repairs to finishing an entire lower level. The lower lever improvement project was approximately 900 square feet with: two bedrooms, shower bath, living room and kitchen. We have always found his work to be superb and his willingness to share ideas has resulted in a better finished product. He is happy to work with your concepts and provide ideas for other construction options that could save on time and money. Pride in his work is a standard element when he is handling projects and this sets him apart from other professionals. He takes the time to do it right. Should a complication develop he goes out of his way to help ensure everyone’s understanding of the problem and provides alternatives to solve the issue at hand, giving estimated costs associated with any changes, should they be needed, and gives you the likely consequences of the various options presented. Charles has worked on all types of residential homes. We feel his experience in dealing with with period homes is second to none. We own a 1880’s Queen Anne Victorian. I’m formerly a residential builder and developer of new homes for 25 years. His knowledge of period homes has enhanced and helped us preserve our unique house. With his advice and help we believe our home will last another 130 years with it being more energy efficient and stronger than the day it was built. “Trust, is what you can expect when you hire Jed Donovan and Joe Shipley to do your job. They do what they say they will do and go the extra mile to see that the customer is happy. We had Joe and Jed remodel and renovate the first floor of our old cottage. They did the framing and took care of some shoddy work that was done before the prior owners lost the home to foreclosure. There were some structural issues that needed to be taken care of as well. After the guys were done with the structural improvements I felt the home solid; no worries. I was impressed with the changes they made. The traffic pattern was a challenge, but the ideas we were given made the flow from one part of the home to another simple, efficient, very open and inviting. The doors they hung swing free and are square; no sticking. We were happy enough that we had Jed, Joe and the guys back to put on a two story deck. It is one of the most attractive decks on the lake. We have gotten many compliments from boaters passing by. The work these professionals do is beyond expectations. We have recommended Donovan Shipley Carpentry Contractors to a number of people we know and all have been extremely happy with the work that was done.”
