“Two years ago, I hired Bill McWhorter for a drought-tolerant design in the front yard of my Cottage-style house. His design was inspired. He used the plants, one tree, and decomposed granite to create pretty welcoming shapes, winding pathways, and strategically placed spiky succulents and bougainvillea to add to the security of potential break-in points - an added bonus. The best part was the relaxed feeling that we continue to get as we walk through, brushing the plants - the salvia clevalandii and varieties of lavender release fragrance all year long, making it a complete experience. Also the drought-tolerant plants were surprising - the hot pink flowers from the Calandrinia, and the gigantic succulent blooms continue to amaze. I couldn't recommend Bill more highly - he's an artist with a master's eye. But be forewarned: a drought tolerant garden takes as much maintenance as a lawn, and a lot more knowledge. Hire Bill.
