“We chose Sunspace Design over other companies because we wanted a custom sunroom- not a one-size-fits-all outfit that assembles pre-made components. They carefully listened to our wishes, and designed just what we asked for! They custom-build an 18' x 14' Glass Conservatory attached to our home. They also made helpful suggestions to give us a unique room, complete with varnished mahogany ceiling beams and an all-glass roof. Their workmen are professionals with many years of experience- not easy to find these days when anybody with a hammer can call themselves a carpenter. They strategically used cedar in places to assure no rotting wood in the decades to come. When we asked for changes along the way, they had the experience to know how to accomplish it. We also interviewed other sunroom companies, but they could only offer pre-fab units in limited sizes... basically, they were "assemblers" for large franchises- exactly what we didn't want. Sunspace Design builds custom rooms- based on what you want, how you want it, and something that doesn't look like it came from one of the 'Box Stores'. Our project went quite smoothly, staying on schedule thanks to the fact that my office is in the house and Scott's commitment to providing a foreman. This enabled us to make decisions quickly and address problems promptly. Scott and his crew showed a lot of creativity in meeting our requirement to stay in the house during the renovation, to the extent of setting up a temporary kitchen and shower in the basement. In the end, we only had to be out of the house for about a week. He was also very good about coordinating with our architect and the cabinetmaker that we selected ourselves. Having heard a few horror stories of renovation cost overruns, I think we also did well in this respect. Our final figure was about 10% more than the initial estimate due to the kind of unforeseen issues that can be expected on any such project, along with a few changes that we ordered. The level of detail Scott provides in his constantly updated spreadsheet also helped us to make some decisions that reduced our cost.”
