“I own a home bullt in 1957 in the Sherman Oaks Hills. The home sits on a slope so the entrance to the house is on the top floor, and it has a downstairs area that originally consisted of a family room/sunroom, bedroom, and a very small bathroom. Since the house was limited in closet space and lacked a master ensuite, I wanted to remodel the downstairs to create my dream master suite. Martins Construction gutted the entire downstairs area and converted the family room into a master bedroom with a large walk in closet, recessed lighting, and refaced the original brick fireplace. In the sunroom, they replaced all the floor to ceiling windows and built decorative beams. They converted the old bedroom into a gorgeous spa bathroom with a walk-in shower and separate water closet, and knocked down a wall so the bathroom would connect to the bedroom. They also walled off part of the old bathroom and converted the space into a small laundry room. After meeting with a dozen or so contractors, I eventually decided to hire Martins Construction for the project. Robert’s bid was in the ballpark of my budget, and he seemed like a very easy going, responsible guy who had a good eye for my design taste (modern.) Rob showed up almost every day during the project and was very good at keeping me updated on what would happen next. One of my pet peeves from an earlier project was a lack of communication on the contractor’s part and his unresponsiveness. It was a breath of fresh air to have Rob who was always very quick to respond to any questions I had. The majority of his crew was very professional and fast. His carpenter especially was very good. I had asked Rob to frame and drywall an area of the crawl space below the first floor to turn into a media cabinet for my bedroom electronics. I wasn’t even sure if this was going to be possible with the vents and plumbing in the area, but I was amazed how well it turned out. Rob is very detail oriented and takes a lot of pride in his work. I can be a little picky about details, and when I saw some things that I didn’t like, Rob usually had them corrected even before I had a chance to point them out to him. Overall, Rob is very conscientious about his work and provides great customer service. Best of all, the cost of the project was right on budget of his final bid with no surprise charges.”
