“Hired to do bathroom shower tiling implementing a design pattern. Work was very good with much attention to detail. Reasonably priced. Very pleased and would hire the crew for other work.”
Halldale Builders
Home Additions in Augusta
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsJuly 28, 2013
“Glen and Matt are the contractor/Builders you would wait in line for. Never have I had a better experience estimates are right on the money and Glen's honesty is never in question. Several times he was able to pass on materials savings to us, and the quality of workmanship--perfection! Matt and Glen maintain the highest level of professionalism in their personal conduct. I would trust them with my house and all of my belonging without a care--they are as trustworthy as it gets. When we need builders for any more remodeling or building, we will only use Halldale Builders. I stand four-square behind this review even several years later.”
By Design
Home Additions in Augusta
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsAugust 25, 2013
“We highly recommend architect Bruce Butler of By Design. He has been wonderful to work with, and we are delighted with our new home. We had never built a house before--nor did we think it was in the cards for us to do so--so we were complete novices when we began. Bruce was very patient with our lack of knowledge and did an excellent job of educating us on the process. Based on information he gathered from us, he presented us with an initial plan that matched our vision! After that, our discussions with him were primarily regarding materials and finishes. Our dealings with Bruce were done from a distance as we lived a half-dozen states away from our building site. Regardless of this, the process was seamless. Bruce also effectively acted on our behalf with the town Planning Board and Code Enforcement Officer. Without making a single change, they signed off on our plans the very night he presented them. He also participated in our meetings with prospective builders and made field trips to see their work. Additionally, he was very proactive on pursuing cost- and energy-saving options. We interviewed other architects before selecting Bruce. After the fact, one of the other firms asked us whom we selected. We told them and they said, "Bruce does great work, I think you'll be in good hands." There’s no question that we were!”
Big Country Built
Home Additions in Augusta
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsJanuary 5, 2021
“I have worked with Big County Builders on a couple projects and trust not only the integrity of how the business is run, but also the innovative thought that goes into the project. Josh not only worries about execution, but also thinks about design, logistics, cosmetic and aesthetics. This is important to me. I don't always have the know how, but have the idea of what I want and Josh always seems to find a way to fit the design of what I am thinking. He asks the right questions and talks about the important things. He does great work and would always recommend him!”
Steve's Custom Homes, Inc. aka Net-Zero Builders
Home Additions in Augusta
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsDecember 3, 2021
“Steve was a great partner to work with on our recent net zero Design/Build collaboration! Steve was able to take our detailed list of design requirements and create an incredibly functional home plan that ultimately satisfied all of our needs and desires. Highlights of our project included: - The final home plan was the product of a highly collaborative and iterative design process that relied upon 3D renderings and walkthroughs to test and review the plan at each stage of design. This allowed us to validate the plan and, where necessary, make adjustments before construction actually started. We can honestly say that there is nothing material we would change about the design. - Steve’s extensive background in modular and net zero construction ensured an extremely energy-efficient home (HERS score of 11) - Our building envelope presented some interesting positional challenges that Steve was able to solve elegantly and efficiently. - Steve not only accommodated our desire to do the interior finishing work (i.e., cabinetry, tiling, flooring, painting, etc.) ourselves, but in fact actively facilitated our ability to do so by adjusting his build plan to complete our workshop well before the rest of the house was completed. We love our new home and cannot recommend Steve highly enough! Juergen and Joan Renger Freeport, ME”
MAGUIRE CONSTRUCTION INC
Home Additions in Augusta
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsFebruary 5, 2016
“Maguire remodeled our 1900 home in Cape Elizabeth and rebuilt our lakeside cabin in Bridgton. Their teams were professional, the work was impeccable, and everything was completed on time and within the estimated budgets. The detail work they did on some of the railings and trim was ingenious. As icing on the cake, the neighbors had only positive things to say about their interactions with Maguire's team.”

Greater Portland Renovations
Home Additions in Augusta
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsJuly 27, 2019
“I highly recommend Greater Portland Renovations. Originally, they did a rot repair job for us. Moisture got in under or front door and caused rot. They arrived to do the work on the scheduled day at the time promised. Even though the rot spread a bit further than expected, the cost remained within the estimated range. I was so impressed with the integrity of the company and kindness of the workers, that I also decided to hire them to install new hardwood floors in our home. As they were doing the job, they came across more rot under the back door, which we had no idea about. They took everything in stride. They repaired the issue right away, and charged us a reasonable amount to repair it. Our old floors were both glued and nailed down with a nail about every half inch of flooring. This was by means no easy job. They still managed to finish the job quickly, as they knew we were trying to sell our home. The floors were installed perfectly, and look amazing. I would recommend Greater Portland Renovations to ANYONE!!!”
Rockport Post & Beam
Home Additions in Augusta
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsMarch 28, 2017
“I contacted Evan Dyer initially to look at building a Post and Beam home in Camden, Me. After looking at the entire project, I decided to purchase and existing home. I asked Evan if he would look at an existing Post and Beam house and review the renovations I wanted. He met me at the house and walked me through the areas of concern and things to consider in renovating a Post and Beam home. (Trust me there are major differences.) Based on working with Evan I felt I could purchase the home and do the renovations within my budget. I contracted with Evan to manage the renovations. He was responsive, had good ideas and was able to provide an insight that is unique to Post and Beam construction. I would definitely higher him to renovate or build a Post and Beam home in the future.”
