I am so sorry to hear this. We worked tirelessly for nearly two years and designed the house from top to bottom. The builder repeatedly gave us little, no or misinformation while quoting both a budget and timeline that was double from any previously outlined expectations. We went over our contracted scope multiple times and did everything we could to call attention to any specific needs for the client. I am saddened to hear it turn sour. The agreement is far from one-sided and meant to protect all parties involved. We also offered many options for resolution along the way.

The team at BANDD/DESIGN is saddened by your comments on this review. We were very excited to help you design your home. We put our utmost standard of excellence, and duty of care into each design project we do. After happily serving over 130+ clients, with differing preferences and design styles, and winning numerous awards for our designs and customer service, it’s difficult for us to comprehend your goal and intent in writing this review. In an email, you insinuated that if I chose to not refund more of your deposit money, you would take write erroneous and insulting reviews such as this. And, unfortunately, here we are.

Sadly, many of your comments are factually inaccurate. Therefore, as the proud founder and principal designer of BANDD/DESIGN, I have no choice but to respond with accuracy. Your review is calling into question the integrity and respect we have for our clients, the amazing skills of our talented employees/designers, and the quality of our work. While this post is riddled with inaccuracies, here are three facts I feel are critical to address as a result of you putting them in the public purview.

“…two junior designers came out once to look at the space.” Fact: One lead designer and her design assistant visited your home. The lead designer has professional design education, and over a decade of design experience. She is exceptionally talented, and we are extremely blessed to have her on the BANDD/DESIGN team.

“BANDD presented concepts to us at a single meeting in November 2021. It was so bad that we couldn’t even really talk.” Fact: In the first draft of the concept presentation, you and your husband positively responded to many elements we presented beyond the first page (which is shared here in violation of it being our intellectual property). So much so that you took to circling the many elements that you favored and responded with the ones you’d like to adjust. We take client preferences seriously and explained that it’s common to have adjustments, based on personal likes and dislikes, and we began to work to complete the final concept based on the initial design. We are meant to push our clients creatively, not just validate their opinions. I am proud of the work our design team had done to take into consideration all your needs. Unfortunately, we are not privy to what transpires behind closed doors and later, you expressed your unhappiness and unwillingness to proceed without the final concept. We had no choice but to respect your decision and request. Our wish, as we voiced to you and your husband both, would have been to continue to a final concept design, adjusting for your preferences. This especially is true considering we were so early in the project’s lifespan.

And finally, you mention hourly work. Fact: Every project, including yours, is contracted on a flat-fee basis. Your contract is clear that those fees are non-refundable. However, the kindness extended in a separate phone conversation with your husband prompted me to serve compassion to your family. Despite how you feel about our design talent and ability, we do not, nor have we ever lacked integrity or practiced in any unethical manner. As a result, I approved a partial refund of the project for circumstances that were outside of our control. Even after we extended this kindness, following, you sent an unprompted, contemptuous email denouncing and disrespecting the entire profession of interior design and repeatedly insulting our abilities as designers. I feel it bears reminding that interior design is a wholly subjective form. Attacking our credibility is purely subjective and not a universal truth.

It is deeply disappointing to me that disparaging reviews are posted even after we have so kindly responded to your situation. As we do with all present and past clients, employees, family members and friends, we wish you the very best.
