“We met Don 2 years ago with ideas to build our dream home. He worked closely with us and our builder to adapt our home plan to our lot. Great attention was placed on preserving the natural landscape and numerous 100+ year old live oaks. “Elizabeth Hall worked with me (and my husband) to discover our inspiration pieces and styles, so she could design our living room, family room and breakfast/office areas. She did this using Pinterest and the favorite pieces of furniture and accessories we owned. At the time promised, she presented our design boards in a classy way in a keepsake box. She was flexible to change items we didn't love and she was spot on with paint colors for each space. Elizabeth chose quality furniture and decor items for us to buy and place according to her designs. She provided painter references and we saved over $300 by using coupons at our local bed and bath store for rods, sheers and drapes. She made an item list with sku numbers with detail and a mini version to keep in my purse. She has a gift for decorating and is a very pleasant person to work with, and I was very pleased with her ability to listen and bring out the beauty in our home using a lot of what we already had. She keeps within the budget and is very mindful of quality.”

“Shades of Blue designed and had my drapes fabricated for 7 windows in the front rooms of my 1860's home in Uptown. I have 13 foot ceilings and the drapes needed to be 135 inches long. They turned out beautiful. They surely make the room.”

In the era of the Coronavirus, the Telekitchen has been created. For my project, everything was handled via emails, phone calls and Zoom. Debi and Rachele are expert space planners. I supplied the dimensions by working with Debi on Face Time, and the preliminary floor plan quickly arrived in my inbox. Samples of the cabinet materials, color swatches, countertops, sinks, floor tiles or woods and fixtures were all delivered to my front door. The process was completely painless, and the results top notch. The custom-made cabinets will arrive in a company van, driven by the company representative. It doesn't get any easier, the results speak for themselves and the neighbors (and carpenter) were jealous. They expressed their desires to have a similar kitchen.”

Sean and I wanted to build a passive solar, sustainable green design home for years. We searched for the perfect lot, and once found, we searched for the perfect home design. We quickly found Sun Plans, as 100% of their focus is passive solar. We bought Debbie's book, The Sun Inspired House, and found elements of houses that we loved - open floor plans, lofts, atriums, towers, airlock entry ways, and more. You can buy a plan, adapt a plan or work with Debbie on a new design. We thought we could adapt, but soon learned that we had some customized aspects that would lead to the creation of RISE - primarily the clerestory. The design process took about a year from beginning to end, and was done 100% through email and phone calls. Debbie was wonderfully responsive, not only to us as clients, but to our builder, structural engineer, energy analysts, and more. We stay in touch to this day and we do hope to meet in person at some point!
