A modest proposal for a family of four, this is a three-bedroom, 2500 square-foot house. There are his-and-hers home offices, a playroom for their two young sons, and a media room that doubles as a guest room. Spaces are organized in two distinct volumes, with primary living spaces and entry combined in a single-story, sloped-roof volume with heated concrete floors. Walls of this volume are clad with cedar reclaimed from the house that was deconstructed, with the planks stripped bare and turned vertically. Deep overhangs provide weather protection for the entry, carport, and covered terrace. The playroom, media room, laundry, offices, bedrooms, and three baths occupy the two-story volume, clad in fiber-reinforced cement siding applied as a rainscreen.

This living room was inspired by elements of nature: a flowing stream and river stones. The custom-made wall decor, glass panels, and custom tabletop mimic the fluid movement of water. Designer: Fumiko Faiman, ASID. Photo by: Jeri Koegel.

This beautiful white and gray marble floor and shower tile inspired the design for this bright and spa-like master bathroom. Gold sparkling flecks throughout the tile add warmth to an otherwise cool palette. Luxe gold fixtures pick up those gold details. Warmth and soft contrast were added through the butternut wood mantel and matching shelves for the toilet room. Our details are the mosaic side table, towels, mercury glass vases, and marble accessories.
The bath tub was a must! Truly a treat to enjoy a bath by the fire in this romantic space. The corner shower has ample space and luxury. Leaf motif marble tile are used in the shower floor. Patterns and colors are connected throughout the space for a cohesive, warm, and bright space.

Steel and glass staircase gives the top floor of this row house a loft-like feel and creates access to a modern roof deck on the roof. A glass floor captures natural light and sends it down through the house via the stairwell.

The ceiling was raised and skylights now flood the small bathroom with natural light. The walls are floor-to-ceiling, back-painted sheets of glass and the vanity sits on a glass shelf as well. The walk-in shower enclosure almost disappears making you feel you are in a glass box. The floors are honed charcoal gray slate. The mesh sculpture hanging from an airplane wire moves as its shadows change with the time of day.

This stained glass window was not original to the space. It was removed from a different house just before it was going to be torn down and installed in this house. It does a perfect job of letting light in with privacy.

Cream walls, trim and ceiling are featured alongside white subway tile with cream tile accents. A Venetian mirror hangs above a white porcelain pedestal sink and alongside a complementary toilet. A brushed nickel faucet and accessories contrast with the Calcutta gold floor tile, tub deck and shower shelves.
A leaded glass window, vintage milk glass ceiling light and frosted glass and brushed nickel wall light continue the crisp, clean feeling of this bright bathroom. The vintage 1920s flavor of this room reflects the original look of its elegant, sophisticated home.
